Heard he said that last night. Correct me if I am wrong but I thought Fisher, Majerus, and Fraschilla all interviewed and the Job was offered to Majerus first and after he turned it down Fisher got it.
If Fraschilla did turn it down I want to thank him for doing that so we could land Coach Fisher.
Now Fraschilla and his announcing partner can go gush some more over the BYU players while playing in the losers bracket.

Heard him say that too… Unprofessional! If it did happen that way (Which I doubt), you keep it to yourself.

It may be unprofessional since it wasn't really out there that we know of, but the context was that he didn't think there was anyway SDSU could have success and it was his way of really praising the job Steve Fisher has done.

Think he was honest , when he said he did not think he could win here at SDSU . It took a guy that has patience, really likes to teach the game , assembled a good staff , recruit made SDSU into a power on the West coast . Believe he and Fisher are good friends and made it sound to me as a compliment to him . Also mentioned the remarkable stat about winning with 5 minutes to go in a game

They sure were homers for BYU. BYU should have received a technical for the Hawes flop . Trying to pick on a Freshman Kell. Spencer's Offensive foul in the post was a BYU flop. BYU are cheaters.

Maybe Fran was trying to compliment Fisher with his words, but it was a pretty poor job in doing so. You dont put that kind of stuff out there like that.

Heard him say that too… Unprofessional! If it did happen that way (Which I doubt), you keep it to yourself. Definitely not unprofessional. He was stating how amazing a job Fisher has done. This program was a $#!+ pile before Fisher got here. It's the truth. I commend Fran F for being honest.

The current players were toddlers when that happened. Who cares?

I think he did it with good intentions but it's something that shouldn't be said

Bay had been courting Fran for years. There had been roomers of him sniffing around at the job even before Trenkle was hired. And, yes, I do remember him being in the mix for the hire (I used to know several of the coaches and AD admins back then.) And, yes, he was right in saying that everyone -- and I mean everyone -- thought SDSU was nothing but a coaching graveyard. Fran was not the only guy who turned us down. No one thought anyone could win here. And in Fran's defense, he did say last night that he didn't go through the entire hiring process. He did an initial interview and went no further. Which means he either gave SDSU a quick no, or SDSU began to focus all their attention at that point on Fisher.

It could have happened both ways. Fran could have turned down the job when the Aztecs were doing due diligence. Although the job wasn't offered, it was turned down. Kinda like:
"Can I buy you a drink". "I am not sleeping with you".
I turned her down but she really didn't offer.

Fran didn't take the job because he didn't "believe" it could happen here.
That's why you see Fran with a microphone doing color while Fish is coaching an elite nationally ranked program.
Oldie Out

I wasn't aware that Fish had been close to getting a B12 job a year before SDSU hired him. Thank God that didn't happen.

What Fran really meant to say was...
I wish that I hadn't turned down the darn job! Whodda thunk this school could actually get this good!

Oldie Out Ding Ding Ding. Winner. Fran gave up without even trying. Fisher was patient with an end goal in mind: A national powerhouse program.

I remember this.
Everyone was excited about Majerus interviewing. Not considering that Majerus would interview anywhere with anyone. He never intended to leave Utah.
Franchilla had the reputation as an East Coast smart ass. Filled with a sack of one liners. His departing shot in regard to SDSU. "I don't golf, I don't have a boat and I'm not ready to retire, so why would anyone have an interest in that job". A week later he was at New Mexico. He lasted less than two years and was terminated after an altercation with a player.
As an announcer, he has been a real booster of Fisher and SDSU. Last night he was sincere. "Fisher did something I (nor anyone else) didn't think was possible".

I must admit I was annoyed at hearing Francis or whatever his name is, name drop us. It was as backhanded as it gets. Some things are better said unsaid.
