Bottom line they are going to expand to 8 teams as soon as they can figure it out ( 7 games on three weekends ) then see if expanding it makes more money, 16 teams is 15 games on 4 weekends. Maybe drop some bowl games that do not make the TV networks any money .P5 would be foolish not to leave it as the ratings decide who is in and who is out, so much easier . What ever school gets in gets in , no matter what the conference P5 or G5 . But make sure as it is now that G5 gets at least 1 Mid Major Bowl . So the G5 schools will get more money from the payoffs as they expand but far less then the P5 gets. Little chance of getting to the playoffs as the divide gets wider . Also as you can see Conferences get the money in the Playoffs Pay Out . So if your conference has fewer members you get a better /bigger slice of the MONEY pie . So unless they force the B12 to expand , doubt member schools would be in favor of expansion. The number of playoff games can't interfere with the NFL's Saturday games towards the end of their season. No way will they change it to accommodate college playoff games. The media will not allow it.

Apparently, the college bowl game schedule dictates when the playoff games are held, and this year there will not be any problems with the NFL schedule. If they added another round of playoff games, they could work around the NFL quite easily, IMO.

The more teams the better. Eight would be OK if they used the old BCS formula for selecting the teams. That way an outstanding team from a lesser conference (like TCU, Boise State, and Utah were) could get a shot.

My plan for this would be to include the conference champions for the P5 conferences, the highest ranking G5 team, and 2 wildcards. My plan is highly unlikely to happen. I think college football needs to learn from college basketball. What's the 2 major story lines people care about year after year regarding the March Madness tourney? 1. Are the Favorites going to make it? 2. Who's this year's Cinderella? Everyone loves the Cinderella story and you'd be adding that critical, dramatical element to the CFB playoffs. With 8 slots, 2 wildcards, and an the auto G5 entry, which conference or fan base would not be happy? Everyone would be happy! - Every P5 conference is going to assume that they're going to get AT LEAST 2 teams in- they're stoked. - Every top P5 team would realize that possibly even 3 losses could still get you in AND be honest...would see the G5 entry as basically a BYE rather than battling an SEC/P12 monster. - G5 would be ecstatic about having a seat at the table. Plus, go undefeated in your s#!++y conference and you get to the same place Alabama does? Wow, not bad. - NCAA/P5 Cartel gets great PR and image-polishing by giving the little guy (g5) a chance. What's not to like about this by any of the parties involved?
