I have a schematic issue with the 335. The 335 needs a stop gap up the middle that necessitates the offense double or triple team the nose tackle. By doing so, theoretically either the a or b gap are now free for the mike backer to penetrate and make a play. In addition teams that spread the ball force a linebacker to cover a wr. If you have noticed spread teams exploit this by spreading three or 4 wide and thus creating a hole in the middle to exploit or a mismatch created by a lber being forced to cover a wr. The final straw is that it requires extremely athletic players that are quick and a really fat nose tackle that can move. This creates a unique challange for recruiting. With the amount of spread offenses we need to run more of a nickel or dime packeges which we rarely do. The only high school in San diego that runs the 335 is west view and they get itches every game by spread teams.

I agree with both of you.
The aztecs have a proud history of providing the NFL with superb athletes.
And the 335 does allow for a nickel package.
The issue I have is that the 335 demands superior talent to run well. We have been lacking in department for past few years

You have to laugh at all the intense negativity of the in game threads here. But, then I was thinking about jumping from the loge level about half time Friday nite. Today, I am still on a high about our best game of the season. We were so much better than 8-2 Air Farce. A well coached game with adjustments in the second half netted 17-0 as we attacked their perimeter where our athletes can really shine and they did. Wondering when the Rocky haters will emerge again? Next Sept? We may well be looking back at 8-5 by then and the much maligned Rocky will be at 64% overall performance at SDSU. How many coaches have topped that? Only two of 18. Know the names? Not too shabby.

Game threads are horribly negative. They seem to draw out the absolute worst in some posters. I hate when I'm forced to read them to catch up with the action as I did Friday night.

I don't understand why people get so down on QK. This guy is actually overachieving. He did not get a scholarship offer by any D1 school coming out of high school, so goes to JC for two years, walks on at SDSU and earns the starting job last year and stays good enough to remain ahead of several other guys who did get D1 scholarships. The guy shouldn't even be here, but he is. Has thrown some bad INTs but dusts himself off and trots back out there and makes a great play on another chance. You think he enjoys those bad mistakes he has made? I am sure it kills hi. But he dusts himself off and trots back out there and does what he can do to help the team. He is overachieving. I have enormous respect for this guy. If you want to take your hate out the on somebody, then blame the coaches for not having found and developed a higher level QB, but QK is what he is and what he has pulled off here is probably a sign of a guy who is going to have a very successful life. I, for one, will be proud for him to be a fellow Aztec for Life. Well said. And he hasn't been healthy the whole season. He is a gutsy guy and has become one of my favorite Aztec quarterbacks because of his playing hurt. He could have quit and he didn't.
