Probably makes sense. Seems like 90% of the threads now, are related to basketball. The football "leaders" are exquisite at rendering the program otiose.

Thought this was about the banners they hung in Viejas today. Am I the only one who noticed they put the wrong year? Now it looks like we did nothing in 2013 even though we went to the tourney and tied for a conference championship. But now the banners jump from 2012 to 2014 even though we just started the 2014 season. That's how all the other banners are labeled.

That's disrespectful, its still football and the fat lady hasn't sung yet, so keep the football banner up. They deserve our support as much as basketball does. Really upsetting when a fan of our school makes statements like that. I think we will be conference champions this season. That's what I want for this Christmas and my new year resolution is to make it happen, with my telepathic powers. |

We only hang individual banners for conference championships and Sweet 16 (or better) appearances. There is a separate banner showing our NCAA Tourney participation. Basketball seasons bridge years: 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14 etc. We went to the Sweet 16 in the 2010-11 season so our other S16 banner says 2011 since we participated in the 2011 NCAA Tourney. Same goes for last season (2013-14) and the 2014 NCAAs. This coming tourney will be the 2015 championships. And for the record we DID NOT win a conference championship in 2013 but did go to NCAAs. That appearance is noted on the NCAA participation banner. |
