would we not out recruit all other no big 5 conferences?
When I lived in TN Middle TN wanted to go to D1. There used to be a requirement of an average 15,000 fans I believe.
They had Corporations buy tickets to get the numbers up. They still can't get a home game, so they play in the pro stadium as a home team.
So now is the time to get separation from everyone else. Only BYU would come close to recruiting equal to us.
We have proof to how a big crowd in basketball.
We are getting better recruits so if we get on a winning steak we better use it. If all our fans bough an extra ticket and people like me buy one we can get some outside help.
People would watch each week to see the progress.
We need to hire a firm to promote us like Marshal.
BYU probably has the largest number of fans. They could run into a set back.
If it comes to us and BYU we have the TV sets in a city, but they may have more Nationally.
We have only a couple years to get going, so why not start now?

We need more creative promotions.
Why no beer fest, we have a brew master program run by some off the legends of the Industry and we get one miserable effort to run one and the bubkus.

We need to hire a firm to promote us like Marshal. We have one, it's the marketing department. Unfortunately, they don't know how to penetrate the market, and they don't utilize the student body, if they engage them at all. Getting to 50 is going to take sustained success, so our recent alums and current students become ticket buyers. We also just need to fine tune our current gameday things, which have been discussed in the other thread. It will take investment, but we have the opportunity to get to 50k. One thing I do see lacking is winning the city. We need to turn SDSU into the CFB of San Diego. And we just have not done that, which is one of the big reasons we don't have T-shirt football fans.

If you want to draw that many fans then you need to win, plain and simple. That means dominating the conference consistently. That will get you to 40K fans. If you want more than that you are going to have to show that you can beat teams from P5 conferences consistently as well. You can market the crap outta it but when it comes down to it winning gets people to take notice and attend.

If we had a D1 QB we would dominate the conference. .

We might be comparable to the lowest rung on the P5 ladder. But we have to think about competing for recruits with UCLA first, USC is in a different zip code for us.
It's more than fans at the stadium, it's facilities, playing conditions, giving base, etc.
We are on the right path in my opinion. An 11-12 win season would do us wonders, but we just haven't quite gotten over that hump.
We are getting there though!

Last year we had verbal commitments from Ajene Harris, QB/WR from Crenshaw HS and LB Cameron Griffen both who wesealed out of their LOI to play at USC and UCLA. Brice Bulter and Christian Heyward transferred in from USC and Jake Rodriguez from Oregon, Lucky Radley came to us from Utah. We are getting quality players and competing for local recruits. We don't have a $20MM a year TV deal to pay for facilities and stipends. The lack of money is holding the program back! www.usctrojans.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/ajene_harris_908681.htmlwww.uclabruins.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=209607328&DB_OEM_ID=30500

The Power 5 is showing alot of weakness. Look at the high ranking they gave Ole Miss . Ole Miss was #3 in the Power 5??? SDSU could easily have beaten that team. I like where we are plus by Aztecs playing well and other MWC teams playing good Power 5 competition I like the ability to expose the Power 5 since it was done strictly for money consolidation and monopoly but its not working out like they said it would. Boston College beat USC at home and beat NC State 30-14 at home which lost to Colorado state at home . NC State rolled up almost 600 yards of offense against Florida State = Good fro MWC
Hawaii almost beat Washington and Oregon State
I would rather just stay the MWC which is the best BY FAR of the Non Power or Weak 5 conferences and recruit and collectively give the power 5 a headache
