I haven't seen him on the field the last couple of games, despite the thin LB corp. Is he hurt, or did I miss something?

I had the same question, depth chart shows him at number 2 behind Munson.

He was in uniform on the sideline. With Largent back......less available time.

I speculate, his 260+ lbs are hindering his athletic ability to cover ground as well as the others.

I really wish we held onto the other Seau as well, he has come up big for Nevada of late.

I think he should replace Galea next year if they run the same 4-2 with his hand down most of the time.Going to be thin necxt year at linebacker. No guarantee Fely will be back,Munson is the only impact guy back, Fred, and a bunch of young guys.

Still surprised we are running 4-2 & 4-3? Perhaps a "change" is in the air for our upcoming games? (I suspect so BTW)

Is Rocky running the 4-2 & 4-3 for run defense support? Or is it due to the best strategy for the personnel he has?

would guess you try to get you analyze the guys and see who are the best players you have for a 3-3 or 4-2 , so you have the better athletes on the field . By the third or fourth Q , the surprise style defense is over and bottom line you hope your guys are out performing/executing the other team . Not just a Rocky Long defense but are our defensive players executing better then their OL ?

I had the same question, depth chart shows him at number 2 behind Munson. Maybe his surname has more impact than his ability.

Rocky answered this several weeks past, because of the injury's at linebacker Cody would play as a down lineman most of the time. He said they will stick to the 4-2-5 the remainder of the season. There is quite a drop off after Galea,Munson,Largent, and Gavert. Cody is versatile so he can drop back when he needs to.

With the exception of the UNM game we are still using the 335. It is just that one outside linebacker lines up on the end of the line without his hand down. We did the same thing the past few years intermittently. Burris was that guy most of the time and Largent was last year. It really doesn't matter what it is called but we are still only using three DL.

Agree with fowl. DL has solid rotations at all 3 positions: Sanchez and Heyward;, Barrett, DO, Gale'ai and the true Frosh Philips; Sam and Dakota Turner. Very im- pressed with this group. LBs have played very well and now Largent will be fully healthy, meaning that the group of Galea, Fred, Largent, Munson, Gavert, Davis and Seau can/will play. By the way, true Frosh Henderson is playing on ST this season and probably is taking snaps at LB during practice.

Looking at the latest roster, we have a recent influx of walk-ons at LB/DB. I guess, to maintain depth while dealing with attrition through injuries. It's a good thing we rotate players to keep them fresh.

If penny does not redshirt next year he will have only two years to tote the rock, with Stamps, Chase and DJ in front of him. Next year Buck, Dunlop, Henderson, Dunn, Zach Brown, Davis, Seau, Tyler Morris. Everybody except Seau and Dunlop and Brown need 20 pounds. Interesting they were all three stars out of high school.
