Here are some bits and pieces of the article below:
Head Coach: Steve Fisher Last Season: 31-5, 16-2 Mountain West (1st), lost in the Sweet 16 to Arizona Key Losses: Xavier Thames, Josh Davis Newcomers: Angelo Chol (transfer), Kevin Zabo, Trey Kell, Malik Pope, Zylan Cheatham
Projected Lineup – G: Winston Shepard, Jr. – G: Dwayne Polee, Sr. – F: J.J. O’Brien, Sr. – F: Angelo Chol, Jr. – C: Skylar Spencer, Jr. – Bench: Matt Shrigley, So.; Dakarai Allen, So.; Kevin Zabo, Fr.; Trey Kell, Fr.; Malik Pope, Fr.; Zylan Cheatham, Fr., Aqeel Quinn, Sr.;
Outlook: The Aztecs were picked to win the Mountain West this season, and while the offensive end of the floor is going to be an issue all season long, it’s not difficult to understand why SDSU clearly looks like the best team in a perennially-balanced conference. Simply put, they are going to be a nightmare to try to score on, and while there are going to be times where a missed shot and an offensive rebound is their most effective way of scoring, there are some signs that should make the folks at Viejas Arena optimistic.

That is an interesting starting lineup but it can't last long since all the backups for the top 3 positions are already on the floor. They also missed part of d'bench.

At one time I actually thought that would be the starting lineup but I really don't think so now. I think SDSU is better with Chol coming off the bench - JJ will be PF / WS will be SF and I think Zabo or Quinn could be starting PG.
That being said, I think too much is being made of who is in the starting lineup. What make SDSU so tough is that so many players can play multiple positions. Once the first subs come in I don't think there will really be a set lineup. What will be more interesting is who is on the floor at the end of close games.

I actually disagree with his last paragraph, I really don't think SDSU will be involved in a lot of close games. Some of the MW road games will be close but I think they will be dominant at home. No team in the conference can match their depth or defense.

I'm going to say it right now, D'Williams will start at the point this year. While the lineup put up looks nice and big you aren't going to see it very often. You have to have a ball handler in there.

Hell I bet if basketball season didn't overlap with football, he could play running back with Donnel!

They also missed part of d'bench. Yes, I don't think Chol will start. I assume the PG battle is between Zabo and Kell, D'Erryl actually has looked better and healthy. Pope and Z won't be on the floor when the season starts. Shrigs will be the first guy off the bench to score points. I can't see AQ as a starter on this team.

I'm going to say it right now, D'Williams will start at the point this year. While the lineup put up looks nice and big you aren't going to see it very often. You have to have a ball handler in there. It is going to be interesting to see who can snag the PG spot. Each has his strengths and weaknesses with none as an obvious answer. For D. Williams, his outside shot is the biggest issue. With JJ, Winston and Skylar starting, it is critical for the PG to be a threat from the 3 point line. Williams has nice strength and does not seem to turn it over too much. If Williams can hit the shot, he has a chance. AQ has the shot and the experience of a 5th year senior. But, he is probably the weakest ball handler of the three primary PG candidates. Fisher may trust him to make smart decisions with the ball and to handle the pressure. Zabo may have the best all around PG game, appears to have more quickness and reportedly can hit the perimeter shot. But...he's a true freshman. Kell would also be interesting since he would probably have the most versatile scoring talent to offer at the position, but he is not experienced as a true PG and again, is a true freshman. Can't wait to see how it plays out. I a,tempted to guess that AQ gets the nod to start season due to experience and outside shot, but he is not the overall most talented of the options.

Williams was left off the bench in the article but he will spend a lot of time on it during the season. I watched every warmup and home game last year and and concluded Williams was only at SDSU as a package with Allen. Williams is slow, no outside shot, kinda short, and does not penetrate. His defense is not bad. He should follow the LaBradford Franklin and James Johnson path and transfer to a school where he could play and open a scholarship spot at SDSU.

If it was that clear cut he wouldn't even be mentioned in the conversation for PG this year....but he is and has been. His defense and ball handling alone are top notch and at the very least he will provide valuable back-up minutes (IMO).

Zabo is going to be the starting PG on this team. He's been playing at a prep school which is top-notch competition and after his sophomore year he was rated as the 9th best PG in the country. He regressed a little in the public eye because he was displaced by Devonte Graham (who is a stellar PG) but he's the most natural/classic PG we've had since Richie Williams (who also started as a freshman), except he's bigger and more highly touted than Richie was. He's quick, has very sure handles, a pretty nice jumper, and excellent vision/basketball IQ. The first couple games he might not start just to satisfy some of the older players, but he'll impress when he gets on the court and he'll be starting by the time we go on that Maui tourney. He won't be asked to do a whole lot, since we're loaded at every other position. Everyone will tell you he's grossly underrated as a recruit

That's strong assessment on a player who averaged what 2-3 minutes a game. Not sure why you created an account just to bash D. Happy Hunting
