From Mark Ziegler's article in the UT, "LOS ANGELES — Dean Smith. Mike Krzyzewski. Lute Olson. Roy Williams. Denny Crum. Pat Summit. Geno Auriemma. Tom Izzo. Jim Boeheim. Jim Calhoun. Billy Donovan. Bill Self. And now, Steve Fisher" Pretty impressive company. In Fish We Trust. Fisher Receives Wooden Coaching Award

WOW, that's great. I agree with Steve Fisher that John Wooden is the best coach in any sport. Also that it is a great honor to win any kind of award with John Wooden's name attached to it.
This is a well deserved award for Steve Fisher.

Well he will be an icon of SDSU athletics long after he retires from coaching. To me he belongs in the same conversation with Don Coryell when you talk about Aztec athletics.

Without a doubt you are right on both counts. I go back to the Coryell days and I never thought any Aztec coach would approach his level during my lifetime. Both are great coaches. More importantly they are both great, honorable men.

Outstanding - and well deserved!
Yeah, along with Don Coryell, Steve Fisher should be listed as one of the greatest and most important coaches in SDSU history - in any sport.
Congratulations Coach Fisher - and thank you for coming to SDSU! You have put Aztec Basketball on the map, nationally.

This is a well deserved award for Steve Fisher. A well deserved honor. Some of us have been lucky enough to have watched both coaches coach over 100 games in person. They are similar, but it took J R Wooden a while longer to win a league championship. On the other hand, Wooden never had a loosing season, and for a long time was the only person in the Basketball HOF for being a player and a coach. Dude was a 3 time All American at Purdue.

Thank you Coach for all that you've done to a once dead program. Because of you, we as alum have a school to be proud of. So happy for you and I pray many more blessed days ahead.

is this the plateau that everyone was talking about? We can always dream of an even higher plateau, but this one is pretty nifty! SDSU has arrived. As for the person involved, nowhere could there be a more worthy recipient of the award. AzWm

For the rest of our lives as Aztec fans we're going to nudge someone in the seat next to us and share memories of when we saw Coach Fisher on the sidelines. My hope is that we remember those days when Coach Fisher brought us our first national championship and that he truly is setting us up for decades of future dominance on the West Coast.
An awesome day for Steve and his family. And an awesome day for SDSU athletics.

Fish is a class act. But Steve Alford, what a smug asshole in the video. I am glad that he is out of the MWC. And I am not sure he will stick at UCLA, many alumns are still looking for the second coming of Wooden. Alford = Tim Floyd.
