How long a leash does Rice get when he's bringing in such highly regarded guys, but sucks at coaching? UNLV assistant coach Todd Simon recruited Jackson to Findlay Prep in the first place and carried that relationship over to the Rebels, who got a recruiting win after several losses in the class of 2015. Jackson is a consensus top-30 player in his class.

Does Canada not get US TV? If they did, they would realize the Rebels are an underachieving high school coached dog of a program. Something smells fishy

Go check out rebel-net and see their fans saying the same things we are in this thread.

No denying this though, having Findlay Prep in their back yard is a massive advantage in recruiting for the Rebels. They can be at every game and have tons of face time that no other school can offer, hence these "relationships" the kids have with their staff. Oh well, they'll still suck. I thought I read that Rice's brother or some relative was the coach at Findlay Prep. That is a big deal since they are one of the best teams in the country with a lot of top players on that team. Just hope they don't get Zimmerman or some of the other top guys.

My bad, Mike Peck has been coaching the very talented Las Vegas Prospects this summer. Knows the game + players. Nice hire by Kerry Keating at Santa Clara.

Let's hope this changes soon, sdsu must become the destination of choice. Arizona is for the west coast, I believe we can get it done!!

Until recently, we haven't had the type of talent that Findlay has an influx of. So if they have 10 High Major D-1 prospects at any given time, and SD County produces MAYBE 2-3 a year, we're right on par with UNLV and landing a 1 out of 5 average. We can land a local Trey Kell type caliber guy every couple years which is good, but Findlay still has guys going to U of A or Texas, or UDUB, or other P5 schools in addition to the couple that commit to UNLV. If there was a program in SD that had 8 high level recruits, I have no doubt that SDSU would grab their fair share of them based on exposure alone, not to mention the time and funding saved by not chasing recruits all over the country.

We are currently recruiting three Findlay Prep Players in the 2017 who have been offered:
1. Markus Howard PG 6'0 (AZ) 2. Donnie Tillman SF 6'7 (MI) 3. Oshae Brissett PF 6'8 (CAN)
All of these kids have many options and two years left of HS BB.

Findlay Prep is just that a Prep School for HS guys to travel to, get the best college offers from all over the country they can get , with one basic thought how quickly can I get to the NBA . UNLV has been getting at least one a year and lately getting them drafted into the NBA . They also have very strong connections in AAU all over the country, San Diego does not have a school like that or AAU ties . OC has private Mater Dei . We have not gotten that many recruit from there also. Aztec coaches also want guys that play D . Not always a strong part of the game for numerous guys at Findlay Prep . The one recent recruit we have from Findlay was Winston , who was better known for D then offense.

We use all of California I forgot to mention. Our recruiting area is SD,LA and inland empire mainly and the rest of the state. We have 5-7 in the Top 50 every year in CA.Pac 12 is killing it in 2016 getting all the best CA recruits.

The fascination and love for the UNLV off-season "successes" here is curious and lacks appropriate context.

We've crushed recruiting out of Sacramento the past 6-7 years, but its been getting tougher like you've mentioned, with Cal and the rest of the Pac 12 stepping their game up. We definitely took advantage of a weaker PAC 10-12 division during the Kawhi era, and need to find a way to maintain that high level of recruiting, which so far we've been able to. Nolan is going to be a stud, and if we land Cage and a perimeter scoring threat we're going to be just fine. As much as I'd like to land some of the talent that UNLV does, there's something to be said for players that stick around a couple of years, develop, and build serious team chemistry like the '11 and '14 teams. I really wish Malik would stick around for his junior season, but I don't see that happening. Him, Hemsley, and Zylan on the break are going to be dynamite to watch.

Could you imagine the team the Aztecs would have if we could land some of these top 50,We would not have to worry about defense as much if we could score 75-80 points a game.
