How long a leash does Rice get when he's bringing in such highly regarded guys, but sucks at coaching?

UNLV has had many talented players over the years but they have nothing to show for it except a #1 pick who's currently going down as a huge bust. It's been 15 years since UNLV has won a regular season MW Championship. I don't think any other "basketball" school in the country has had that kind of drought. I mean their football team has had more success recently.

No denying this though, having Findlay Prep in their back yard is a massive advantage in recruiting for the Rebels. They can be at every game and have tons of face time that no other school can offer, hence these "relationships" the kids have with their staff. Oh well, they'll still suck.

"They'll still suck" isn't what I would use to describe their performances as of late. "Under performed" definitely, but to say they suck is just not an accurate assessment.

Ok, how about this: Their on-court performances will still suck compared to the "rankings" of their recruits.

The Lobos picked up top a top 150- 2014 recruit- Sam Logwood 6'7" , As it happens his former HS coach had been hired this summer as an assistant coach for the Lobos .
U of Washington just received their 4th Verbal of a top 150 player for 2015
CAL is raising the academic admission standards for both FB and MBB starting in 2015 . Believe their grad rate for MBB was only 38% and their APC had dipped to 939 -

UNLV brings some cache to the MWC - with their 5 star recruits, #1 NBA pick & the glam of Vegas! Pretty attractive for young NBA dreamers!
Aztec vs UNLV basketball games are the best of the whole season in intensity, having them be a strong team makes for better MM run. VIVA LAS VEGAS!
