The USC basketball team has been the laughing stock of the PAC, but since 2013 when Andy Enfield stole Tony Bland from the Aztecs, grabbed UNLVs Katin Reinhardt from Mater Dei and landed #49 Jordan McLaughlin PG, #64 Elijiah Stewart in 2014 and now #55 Bennie Boatright 6'9 PF, #45 Chimezie Metu 6'9 PF for 2015 season we are going to have to go head to head with them on every So Cal recruit now and in the future. Bland is a good recruiter and making the Trojans better. And that's bad for the Aztecs. I hope they fail, first FGCU, then Bland and now recruits. With Bland on our side we would have landed at least 1 and maybe 2 of these players. collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/09/28/mixtape-of-usc-commits-benne-boatwright-and-chimezie-metu-video/related/

I like Tony a lot, and he's a fantastic AFL, but I'd rather have Coach Hut. Good for Tony and his work at USC. SDSU is still the better hoops program.

Little doubt that the new USC staff is going to be a lot better then other staffs at USC . Bland can really recruit the LA /AAU market , he is going to get some of those recruits as shown by the 2015 recruits (also would have gotten Hamilton ) . Aztecs got back coach Hut - who can recruit and coach a very solid D . Both SDSU and USC are still not getting the best guys who are going to Arizona . UCLA is also getting top recruits . Another advantage is playing in the PAC , who has really gotten back to being a very strong conference . A very big budget to help those guys recruit .

USC has always had good recruits, despite being a poor basketball program. Nick Young, DeMar DeRozan, OJ Mayo, etc just to name a recent few. Being in Los Angeles and the PAC guarantees them solid recruits consistently.
Having Tony Bland is definitely good for them with him being from LA and playing for Westchester and all, but all he's doing is continuing their already good history of recruiting. The couple of seasons before he got there they really slipped though, so he's getting them back to par.
They still won't be any good, despite having good recruits

And this whole post screams sour grapes, they will be good in a couple of years. Also Derozan went to USC for simply 1 reason, you can figure it out and Nick Young was far from a big recruit, his only other offer was Wyoming.

(one of them being BJD, so that goes to show the character guys theyve recruited in the past) Ever since then they've had bad classes. I dont consider 4-7 years ago a very long time, and in my post i said they've been down the last couple of years. It doesn't matter why someone went there... the fact is that they went there. They've had talent in the past and haven't been able to coach it, but i suppose with a new coach you never know. I don't see how that post resembled sour grapes, i was simply stating facts and i don't have much confidence that they'll be very good. I'm an aztec fan, why would i have sour grapes over USC's basketball program?

Our defense and team discipline is 100X better with Coach Hut in the mix. No knock on TB, but that's a fact...

Again they have never recruited at this level, they will be good in a couple of years as they actually have some good coaches. What happened with different coaches 7 years ago means nothing.

TB & Hut are close and would probably work together very well, again. Hope they do again someday @ SDSU.

If Tony Bland stayed at SDSU, they wouldn't have gotten Malik Pope or Zylan Cheatham.

I'm happy for Tony and wish him success (just not when it comes to the Aztecs) but Coach Hut is a guy I really wish we could keep around. Good, solid recruiter, and good coach. But, I think he is going to get a HC shot soon and while his loss would most definitely hurt it does mean that the program is doing what it is supposed to do.
