I don't think Dakota will ever dethrone Chad Young from his seat as the most ferocious blocker to ever suite up for the Aztecs but I think when it's all said and done Dakota may be the better all around FB. The kid makes great blocks for our RBs, can catch the ball out of the backfield, and has some nice moves and speed.

I agree, he has been a pleasant surprise as a transfer player ready to contribute right away. I can't say that he will be better than Chad Young, but he certainly appears to be cut from the same cloth. I look forward to seeing him get the ball in space, particularly mis-direction plays and watching DBs try to take him down. He's a load.

Does anyone know if Chad caught on with a practice squad anywhere after his release?

Dakota will contribute in more areas. His ability as an outlet receiver and his run after catch ability makes him a threat. I hope they also put in more misdirection plays where he runs via direct hand offs.

Dakota may be better with the ball; Chad is the best without the ball.

I figured Dakota already took the FB job away from Roberts. Chad teased Roberts that he was too "soft" for the position.

Dakota may be better with the ball; Chad is the best without the ball. No kidding. I was at the Potato Bowl and watched Young as he just CRUSHED Buffalo defenders. I think it was on the second Muema TD where the Buff Corner, seeing Young heading at him, actually turned his back to Chad rather than take him on. I'd never seen that before. Can't say that I blame the kid though.

I lost count how many times his man ended up on the ground. That is a man among boys. I also saw 7 times, his man either get up slow or not get up at all. Then, to see blitzing LBs and Safeties get de-cleated on blitzes up the middle..... priceless!!! Ask any OC or QB what they would do to have a FB like that. He should be list up with the greatest SDSU Football players ever. Just because he doesn't play a "sexy" position, doesn't mean he doesn't deserve the Aztec Hall of Fame.

Dakota may be better with the ball; Chad is the best without the ball. Agree completely. Not sure we'll ever see a better or more powerful blocker than Chad Young, however that isn't the only job of a fullback and I think Dakota does a helluva a job run blocking. He pancaked a few people in our last few games. Like someone said, having the option of dumping to Dakota out of the backfield is huge for QK.

Also I'd love to see SDSU become Fullback U. There aren't that many schools, especially out west that use the FB much so could help us land some big time recruits.

Did you guys catch Dakota flatback an NC d-tackle on a scoring run in the last game? Very Chad Young-ish.

I love the highlight vid of Young. The thing that stands out is how often defenders stopped being interested in stopping the runner and went into full on survival mode. It is usually the defensive stud that intimidates offensive players. He is the Dick Butkus of the offense.

It is really unfair trying to compare one player to another since neither is , or ever will be the same in how they play the game. I would be happy with Dakota just being productive in his own way. That's all you can really ask of any player anyway.
Wish him, and the Aztecs the very best this season, and against the Beav's this Saturday!

It's only been two games so it's hard to say Dakota is better. It looks like he can be good enough to make the comparison competitive.
