Newer arena & now practice facility for Mens BB, football should take a note, win & you get cash support.

Good point - Fred Trenkle broke in the new arena, correct? Either way, I think with football, continued winning will definitely help the process.

Great day and event (boy was it hot out there). Had a nice lunch after in the air conditioned Alumni Center with everyone...including both staffs and many players. Ted did a terrific job hosting things...outside and in. Right after the shovels hit the dirt...members of the Pep Band surprised us from behind with the Fight Song! I did bring my tape measure. It's three feet too short. Was told they were just going with 91' courts.

Dang, either Uncle Ted is really tanned or Dr. Hirshman is a really pale guy.

Any other University has to be impressed with how quickly Funding was put in place & by Non-Alumni movers & shakers. A testament to the Statue of the Men Basketball Program.
Can't wait for THE SEASON to get closer.

Newer arena & now practice facility for Mens BB, football should take a note, win & you get cash support. Chicken & the egg. If you don't invest in facilities recruits don't see a commitment to their sport, making it harder to get better players. In turn, harder to win & get the cash support you reference. Ultimately fan bases, if they truly want to win, need to support programs through thick & thin. SMU is doing it right. Irrelevant for 15+ years, they build a new practice facility for hoops in '08 and then open up a completely renovated Arena this year. Investing in those allowed them to get L Brown (he doesn't touch them without), and now they are attracting first rate players. They didn't win to get support - they invested to start winning. In football, WSU invests in a major stadium upgrade & new Football ops building, which in turn allows them to attract Leach (like him or not). He doesn't touch WSU w/o that investment. We'll see if it pays off but had they waited to start winning before investing that'd never would have happened in today's recruiting world. For SDSU, we've gone to 4 straight bowls. Not sure how much longer the program needs to prove themselves? People SHOULD be buying in by now. The fact many haven't just shows a deeper issue than winning unfortunately.

Zeigler was on the radio today ,agreed with pbbroker , where else do you find major good sized contributions from graduates from other universities donating so much money . They wanted an NBA team but think the Aztec team is even more enjoyable and should be supported . Major step in recruiting going forward and could be ready for the Aztec teams to use for 8/15

Z They wanted an NBA team but think the Aztec team is even more enjoyable and should be supported . Make no mistake. They still want an NBA team. This is a calculated business decision. The Jacobs family has been very generous to SDSU programs over the past few decades. They have a strong interest in seeing that SDSU continues to educate good teachers, good engineers, good artists, and in general, good PR for the city. It takes money to make money. You gotta get that groundswell going somehow. … you can take that to the bank.

Would guess if there was a local company or families you would want as supporters at SDSU it would be the group from Qualcomm . In addition they may also be able to provide some up to date technical support if needed .
