Evvvvvery year depth disappears just like that... Luckily we have more guys than PT available, and someone will be getting valuable minutes while Z is out. Next man up (DA, Chol, JJ)?
Edit:: get better soon Z! Heal up good and don't rush it, looking forward to your debut- whenever that may be.

Well there goes any of the tough games in the OOC. Why? I mean, it sucks... but we do have a TON of depth on this team. I think it means we play a little smaller, with JJO spending a bit more time at the 4 (some of the mins at that position Zylan would have played) and getting some extra time for our wings (a good opportunity for Shrigs / Dakarai / etc. to step up).

Another in depth article from Zeigler . Noting that because Zylan was still working on finishing up his HS makeup class ,he could not attend SS classes/practices and be under the SDSU medical supervision ,until he arrived for classes this week and they sent him off for an immediate x- ray . Wish he had gotten the X-ray when it happened during the summer . Also notes that Malik has still not been cleared to play . The 6 quality OOC games 11/18 - 12/17,could be even more difficult ,but as noted gives other guys more opportunity to play .

Makes the "who are the starters" thread a lot easier.
It is good that he finally got the foot checked out. Why there were no x-rays back when it happened is a mystery to me.
Get well, but do not ruch it.

Mental Note: Tapley was injured before he arrived and had a great career on the Mesa.

Brutal, but I didn't think he'd be in the top 7 or 8 in the rotation, so don't think it's the end of the world. Hurts depth, and will hurt if someone else gets injured, but think we're fine. Definitely have a lot of flexibility. Should be doing light practice by November; full contact by mid December. Definitely will be raw for conference play, but IMO if he's getting more than 8-10 minutes a game that means someone else is hurt as well. I'd guess Pope should be OK in 30-45 days. If this was Spencer or Chol I'd be freaking.

Yes this obviously sucks. But keep in mind, Dakarai was ranked in the same neighborhood as Zylan coming in, and barely saw the court last year. Those who think our season is lost or that this will lose us big games early on have very little faith in our returning players who are really good, and a year older, stronger, BETTER.

While it sucks (I was really looking forward to seeing that kid on the court) we are so absofreakinglutely stacked I think we can an will roll right through this, and that it won't be until late March when we finally find ourselves saying, "imagine what we would have done with Zylan on the court!"
We are very lucky to have the luxury of looking forward to what he'll bring next year.

Scratch that. "3-4 months" means he'll be able to play this March. Nevermind... mid-afternoon brain flatulence.

"When things get tough, you learn a lot about yourself," Cheatham tweeted Wednesday. "Put God first and control what you can control."Haven't met this young man yet...but I love him more with everything I read (this...after all the make-up school crap). Can't wait to join a sold out arena to give him a thunderous ovation the night he makes his debut. Stay strong...and heal quick Z.

Season starts in November, so at 3-4 months, he would likely be available by conference play. That being said, it wouldn't shock me if he redshirts this season. It was during the non-conference part of the season that he was going to get the most playing time and maybe work his way to the 8/9 spot in the rotation. I honestly wasn't expecting much of an impact from Z this season due to the depth on this team. As far as him not staying 4 years I'm not sure why not. I don't know that he is/was projected as a legit NBA prospect coming out of high school. He certainly could as many players like Z seem to develop quite well at SDSU.
