First think if a HS player wants to go to the NBA right from HS let them go . But if they have the 1 and done's then see no problem having the Aztecs also signing a player similar to Wiggins. The Aztec coaches have said they would do it right away . If the guy comes in and produces then he has helped the program . Kentucky, Kansas, Arizona and others can survive it so I would be willing to try it also .

If a player is good enough, what is wrong with one and done? I know it is not the same situation, but look at someone like Josh Davis. If someone can make a substantial impact, who cares if it is only for one year? I'm talking about incoming high school recruits that come and play for 1 year and then declare for the draft. True, which is why I said it is not the same situation, but the amount of time that they will play here is still the same which is why I made the comparison. If someone can contribute for one year, why not do it?

SDSU is not a 1 and done program. This is silly if Thon Maker wanted to come Steve Fisher would be doing backflips and handstands. 1 and done means the player 99% of time made a huge impact that 1 year in college.

Sorry I didn't address the 2nd part of the comment i was responding too. Josh Davis/Garret Greene were 1 year eligible transfers. They were much easier to recruit to get to come to SDSU. If SDSU recruits Thon Maker they'll have to jump through hoops of fire just to get him to sign and play for only 1 year. Its not worth it plus they lose the chance of signing other potential recruits. Example a couple years ago (5 star Isaac Hamilton).

So we won't recruit really good players because of the time they will play versus the time it takes to recruit them? Coaches time is a limiting factor and a one and done (for us) would cost too many coach hours per year played. And if you factor in the success rate of trying to recruit them, it greatly increases coach recruiting hours. So, I guess it would be OK only if a one and done player approached us and asked to visit.

I believe that recruiting a one 'n done will attract more of them. Proving that it can happen right here in SD should make this a better and more believable option for guys with that potential. Improve as a player under Fish & staff whilst living in SD for a year. Convince just ONE and they will come!!!

I would take Thon Maker, M. Cage Jr or any other top 10 recruit for 1 year and as noted if they do well in the NBA it brings other top recruits in following years , you also may get other recruits that same year . The coaches have said no problem and would do it in a heart beat , that's all we need to know .

It will be interesting to see how sdsu recruits Deandre Ayton. He's the #1 overall basketball prospect in the class of '16. Surely a 1 and done...

The kids are going pro younger and younger. Interesting trivia:
Since 2007, Blake Griffin is the only non-college freshman to be selected #1 overall. For 2015, all mock drafts have the Top 5 picks as college freshman this year.
The last time a college senior was taken #1 overall was Kenyon Martin in 2000. No question that Martin will be the last.

According to Scout, there are currently four schools – Arizona State, Indiana, Kansas and Kentucky. ASU? Does Bobby Hurley have some magic Hurely met with Aztec recruit Brendan Bailey yesterday after he decommitted from ASU upon Sendek's firing.

One of Thon's cousins was our taxi driver to the airport in Charlotte. He said that SDSU should recruit him. At the time I thought it was bs but if he will give asu the time of day maybe it wasn't.

There's still doubt that this guy is even going to college, why waste energy on someone we would never get.

Kentucky and also Kansas have been view as the most probable landing destinations for Thon Maker. Arizona State now looks to be the team to beat. Maker may be in the PAC. Tired of Kentucky, Kansas, Duke monopolizing players.
