SDSU needs its own "Knight" in shining armor (preferably, shiny gold armor)…

Look at it this way. It is good that some of their schools do not play soccer, because that gives us the opportunity to fill in , and become part of the PAC 12 in at least one sport. Maybe, the possibility to get into other PAC 12 sports later on after they see how great our school is??? That gives us one foot in the door!

There is no reason why SDSU couldn't become a national leader in attendance.

There is no reason why SDSU couldn't become a national leader in attendance. you mean other than our soccer pitch only holds 1800 (standing room) Wake Forest was 11th in average attendance last year (1847) and Virginia 12th (1622). You consistently draw anywhere near full capacity and you'll immediately be ranked near the top. Heck, even 900 a game would vault SDSU into the top-50. fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/m_soccer_RB/2014/attend.pdfNew Mexico was 8th. If you take a second to check out the rankings, you'll see that in addition to your MW buddies you'll find some 20 or so P5 schools in the top-50.

Once the P5 adds stipends, how long before there is a lawsuit demanding women be paid too? It's not going to be about revenue generating sports, but equality. If this happens, there won't be many other men's sports other than FB, BB and maybe baseball.

NCAA rules require a minimum number of sports to qualify for D-1 status ... if we can't maintain that number, we'd have to drop to D-2 or the NCAA would have to lower the number of sports to qualify.

They would to placate the lower rung of P5 schools who couldn't afford a specific $ amount for stipends. That indirectly helps the G5 too. The P5 will always threaten to pull away if they don't get their way. They have the NCAA by the gonads.

This would also have an impact on the number of D-2 schools that would then be able to move up to D-1 ... if the minimum number of sports required were to be lowered. What would the effect be on Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, Softball, Hockey etc. at the D-1 level?
