Just donated $50. Obviously this disease hits home with our Aztec family. I highly recommend watching this SportsCenter featured story on Pete Frates, the inspiration behind the ice bucket challenge. espn.go.com/video/clip?id=11489514

We need to get more people talking about this. I worry that viewers are not looking at the postes on the top of the page.
What can we do to get more people's attention?

to keep interest in this thread, someone needs to take ownership of it.
That person needs to post things periodically regarding the event. Build interest, post updates, pictures and small bits of interesting information & background of the event, its organizers and it's mission.

Participate or donate--it's that simple. so take command of this thread and post pictures, websites, twitter updates, anecdotes etc. Posting something on the board here and hoping people see it and get involved is like it is IRL ... you post a flyer on a bulletin board among other information without changing it and it will not get much traffic or notice. You have to change the look and the contents to constantly attract attention and to hit the casual observer a few different times to remind them of your event. People are full of good intentions, but not great about follow up. Many will see this and say "I have to remember to do that", then get distracted and forget. Sure this is an important cause, of which there are many. You are marketing -- you have to inform them, show them what it's about , remind them, then do it all again numerous times in a few different ways.

Proud to say I've got friends on two of the local teams.
Thank you and good luck to all those who are participating and have donated. Hopefully those who have yet to get involved will reconsider. If you skip you Starbucks or have one less drink at happy hour tonight, all those individual $5 and $10's add up.
