Aztec interested in 6'11 235 Center Jayce Johnson from JSerra HS in Mission Viejo. He is a 4-star kid, with no official offer since TJ leaf, MJ Cage and Zach Collins are high on the teams list.

He must play a more traditional brand of center then, for us to not offer a 4 star big that close to home.

Not real pretty, but quite effective.

Scout, 247 and ESPN all have him as a Top 50 player and Top 10 center...
They could all be wrong, but my guess is he will translate quite nice.

I like that he's not afraid of contact at all. He attacks the rim and his 15 ft jumper looks nice and soft.

TJ Leaf is not high on the Aztecs list. They stopped recruiting him a long time ago. Sources are saying his top 3 are Michigan, Indiana, and Duke.

Aztecs could definitely build around this guy in the middle.

This is false, there was an article on rivals not too long ago talked about schools pushing him to commit SDSU was one of them (along with host of others). Leaf is a pipedream but they aren't going to stop recruiting him till he says no or cuts his list and SDSU isn't on there. Also UCLA is very much in play.

Figure Leaf as a bounceback, if we still want him.

Findlay Prep is a basketball academy , look how many guys from there are on college rosters or NBA . Do not condone the 15 student Prep Schools or all the other schools that go out and recruit their squads .

The PAC is after Johnson, not that we we offered him anything but it burns a scholly for a school that may be after Stanback, Cage and/or Kone.
from Twitter today: Utah was at Santa Monica HS today for 2016 C 6'11 Jayce Johnson (@jrjballer32) Tomorrow USC & Stanford will be at SAMO HS. @scaallstarsaau

I know we stopped recruiting this kid a while back, but wanted to close the loop.
Jayce Johnson, a 7-foot, 235-pound big man from Santa Monica (Calif.), has cut his list to California, Colorado, Notre Dame, Stanford and Utah. Johnson and his family have scheduled in-home visits with Colorado and Utah on Sept. 9. Official visits have been set up with Colorado on Sept. 19, Notre Dame on Sept. 25, Utah on Oct. 8 and Cal on Oct. 15 and Stanford is TBD.
Case almost closed.

Josh Gershon of Scout.com reported that four-star center Jayce Johnson is reclassifying to the Class of 2015 and looking to join a program at semester break.
The 7-foot native of California is down to Cal, Colorado and Utah and Johnson is on an official visit to Utah this weekend after transferring to a charter school this week.
As Gershon notes, only Cal has a scholarship to offer Johnson this season, but the family is willing to pay a semester at the other programs if it’s the right fit. Johnson would like to redshirt and train with his future college while playing against more mature players.
The impact here is Stanback is being recruited and visited many of the same schools. The world continues to turn.

Since Stanback is a 2016 , do you think it would deter any of the schools who are looking at him would stop trying to recruit Stanback even if they signed Johnson . As we know it is not easy signing quality guys that play the 5 . My guess they would take both guys .
