Schedule logic.
Top 1 Middle 6 Bottom 4
The 8 games the bottom 4 miss are 2 games from the top team and 1 game each from the middle 6. Each middle 6 team misses another middle 6 team* and a bottom 4 team
* CSU and UNLV, BSU and Wyoming, UNM and FSU.
I have only seen our schedule and BSU's so this is my conjecture from that and knowing they needed something fair.

Missing USU and SJSU is perfect for RPI. SJSU yes, Utah State only maybe. Last year USU was 5th in conference in RPI at 119 and had a dismal road record. From checking their roster it doesn't seem like they have everyone back and I don't know their freshman/transfers, but they are one of the better long-term teams in the MW and could have easily been a top 100 win x3 for us last year. For comparison's sake: Air Force was 251, Nevada 139, and CSU 183. This year is a wildcard, at least as far as my uneducated guess goes, but year in year out we shouldn't hope USU is one of the teams that gets left off our schedule.

The MWC will climb any mountain, swim any sea, march any distance . . . to screw San Diego State as hard as possible.

Let's give them their two biggest rivals at home while the students (you know, the Student section the entire nation knows about) are out, and just to add a little salt to that coffee, give 'em Air Force at home on NYE. FUC K this conference.

I laugh about that comment from Fisher about WatchESPN not being on TV. Ask the players, I bet they'd rather be on the app... with the possibility of highlights being on Sportscenter, et al than being on CBS Sports which almost none of their friends back home likely subscribe to.
IMO... any ESPN is better than CBS Sports channel. (Cox cable channel 1000-BFE-something.) Now, CBS on Sunday is fantastic... different altogether.
And if we're a Top 10 team ESPN can always swap out a game that's scheduled for Watch ESPN and move it up.

Is there any reason the MW can not show a tentative schedule to the coaches and give them a week to get back to them about the schedule and possible problems . Especially considering the students going to classes . Mid terms .... To quote the musical group Animals "We gotta get out of this place"

Especially considering the students going to classes . Mid terms .... To quote the musical group Animals "We gotta get out of this place" I am guessing they are worried about any accusation of preferential treatment, or coercion by certain teams in case of conflicting schedules. Then again, it is still at a detriment to some of the players, for your exact reasons. Playing it safe at the risk of the student-athlete's education is how I look at it. It does look bad to not entertainthe notion of what Fisher (and I am sure other coaches in the conference) suggest, and pushing the schedule out without any ability to seek modification is a negative reflection of how the conference administrators regard the thoughts of the coaches, staff and SA's of the conference.

This is THE TIME and CAUSE for the Presidents of the schools ,to get involved and demand this gets changed and Now . This is an issue back to back road games , without a bye , after school starts . Aztecs have 3 of them ,6 of our 9 road games. Why not schedule them if needed before school starts The worst as mentioned the trip @ AFA and @ CSU . Do they have commercial airports to fly direct or should schools that do not pay for charters . Does the MW require the visiting school arrive a day early . So Aztecs fly out Tuesday , play Wednesday , fly back Thursday for hopefully classes and practice then fly out Friday - or do they just fly to the next game - miss classes , pay for hotels . I hope the SDSU President gets involved now .

They added 7 freshmen and 3 JCs. None of the new players had more than 2 stars from any of the 3 main recruiting services. Their games against SJSU will determine the last place team.

We have to be the biggest TV market, and we clearly have the most successful combination of teams. All the league gains $$$ from our NCAA tourney successes.
We need the league, but the league needs us more. BYU, SDSU, Boise State and maybe UNLV and/or Fresno State could make a new league.

If it is to happen like that, what a freefall in Logan. You would have to wonder, given the attrition of not only players, but fans and students, if playing in a tougher conference was a bad thing for USU. USU had good teams before, but it seems like their recent teams were smoke and mirrors. Now that they had to go through a better schedule, the veil was lifted, and they don't like what they see. I hope that isn't the case. USU has an awesome environment when it is rocking, and it would be good to have the Spectrum on the list of consistently tough trips in the conference.

We have to be the biggest TV market, Well, technically that'd be SJSU. But then people would actually have to tune in to call it a market.

Especially considering the students going to classes . Mid terms .... To quote the musical group Animals "We gotta get out of this place" We're not the only school with mid terms, etc. It's the same for all the schools so why would it matter when we have classes/out on break? The conferences cannot & will not take that into account. NYE is NYE, no matter what city you're in. Although it sucks that a few of the games are while on break or happen to be on NYE, I think SDSU actually holds an advantage over many of the other teams. We're a CITY, not a college town. When a college town has students on break there is NO ONE around. It's a tougher sale than in a town like SD with the support we have. There's no way for a conference not to "screw over" most of the teams & schedule games during break, not without taking a 2-week long sabbatical from the schedule overall. That's never going to happen. Fresno St got the short end of the stick with the January 3rd game against us; we got the short end on a couple. The difference is WE will still sell out those games & have at least 9k in attendance for both. Since school is technically still in session on NYE I'd expect there to be at least a few students still around, and others to fill their spots. Fresno - I doubt it. Curious - why does the Air Force game say "San Diego, CA" while the others say Viejas Arena? Are they holding that game somewhere else???

UNLV will skip Colorado State and Fresno State. That is a huge plus for them record-wise and a hit RPI-wise. CSU and FSU will be in the grouping of MWC teams in the #2 to #7 range in the standings. Last year UNLV didn't have to travel to Wyoming. Someone in scheduling must be a UNLV fan. Not only do they host the MWC tournament but they get advantageous scheduling.
That means another middle 6 team may miss two bottom 4 teams - I suspect New Mexico. Big mistake by the MWC. Totally unfair to New Mexico. They are not projected to be anything greater than the other middle 6 teams. They shouldn't be treated like a favorite.
