For those of us not residing near Alpine or San Ysidro, we'll now have one in Carlsbad that will hopefully have a decent supply of SDSU gear for us North County folks. Anyone know how many hours one needs to work a week to get employee discounts? Opens: August 28th.

Hmmm...the Las Americas (San Ysidro) location has a great selection of basketball Elite Gear. Hopefully, this new location will have the same.

Good Luck finding SDSU gear at the Nike outlet... They hardly carry any SDSU gear. When they do carry gear it sells out quickly.. Dont know if its a nike thing or licensing limiting how much they can carry...

OnionHead - In the Outlet Center off Palomar Airport Road / I-5.
sdsuballer - It's also an issue of supply/demand. As the number of items in our own bookstore has increased, so too has overstock that's made its way to outlets. Since stuff like that is always well behind the curve, it should only get better as time (the team's popularity and success) continues.

Was on a mission for dry fit shirts a couple weeks ago, hit up both San Ysidro and Viejas. Ysidro has a better overall selection, but is much pricier/less deals. I asked a cashier about it out of curiosity, he said the difference is that Ysidro is a Nike Factory store, and Viejas is a true outlet, one of only 12 in the US. Said the Factory stores have a better, newer selection and will even get Jordan retro releases, etc, but typically not as cheap. Veijas will get older shoes more often.
Long story short, I saw many of the same items, granted there is a better selection at Ysidro. I paid much less for some of the same dry fits at Viejas tho, all shorts/dry fits are $15 there.
Zero SDSU gear at either, at least the days I was there.

If they don't carry the locals gear perhaps the locals need to break out the rakes & pitchforks. I hope they aren't carrying a large selection of pac gear & ignoring SDSU! Nothing like having them bring you the stuff they think you want!

The Viejas store also has sales about every-other weekend where you get an additional 20% off on everything in the store. Usually not much Aztec stuff there, but lots of red and black shoes that normally go from $125-$150 for anywhere between $40 and $60.

I actually used to work at the Nike outlet in Ysidro back in the day and you could work as little as they let you. I remember someone used to work 1 day a week for 8hrs. They can still be allowed to get their 20% discount (30% on family/friends days).

It was always blue blood programs like Duke, UConn, Zona, etc. But now I think they do at times have Aztec gear.

Both sell "B" grade items and things that are no longer new or sold very well at places like Foot Locker, etc. We I was there both stores had the same items but Ysidro sold a lot faster since more people visited it compared to the one at Viejas. Ysidro had the tourist from Mexico plus most people in SD would go there instead of Viejas. We would NEVER get retro releases, only items that were older or B grade. Maybe it's different now since it's been a few years but both outlets were the same and were nothing compared to Nike Towns. Those are the places that got the new releases and new product and had the best quality.

Yea I didnt mean to make people think that you can go to either place and get new retro releases... the dude at Viejas explained that they almost never get any of the B grade releases, super rare for them to have actual air jordans, that any time B grades are planned to release, Ysidro always gets them. I actually saw some B grade AJ 28's at Ysidro for $160 (retail for non B grades is $250 or so, and man are they hideous - as is the case for all J's that aren't 1 thru 14, IMO). Viejas did not have the AJ 28's at all, but did have some lowtop yellow LeBron 11's for $100. Also, if you check the websites for each outlet, the Ysidro is listed as a Nike Factory Store, and Viejas is listed as a Nike Clearance Store. In my most recent experience, dry fit shorts and shirts were ranging from 20-40 bucks each at Ysidro, and were all $15 or less at Viejas. My wife got some dry fit tanks for $7.50 each at Viejas. Saw some of the exact same itmes at each store, but overall, Ysidro had a much wider selection, Viejas just a lot cheaper.

I think you're right in that they changed the Viejas store to a "Clearance" store. Still have some decent things if you just want to get a pair of regular bball shoes or running shoes. But nothing usually in the Jordan line. Before when a Jordan like a 12 or 13 were to sell out at Ysidro, we would call Viejas to stock transfer the size we needed since they usually had all sizes left since they didnt get as many shoppers as we did. Was cool way to cop some J's (although B grade's) at a cheaper price without driving all the way to Alpine.
