That's pretty awesome that we are on the list though. I wonder if that list shows the schools that he is interested in, or the schools that are interested in him.

The Aztecs have the makings of a good local team with Ayton, Hands, Moore and Shanum. Maybe Leaf would like to play with these guys?

Ayton and Hands would be a nice get for the Aztecs in 2017. Two 5 star players right in our backyard.

Wait... I thought we only go after recruits when New Mexico is on their list? I don't see them anywhere.

2017?!? College sports needs to stop this craziness. We are moving to elementary school recruiting and scouting. The madness needs to stop.

Believe he played in the last big event weekend in July and played very well , retaining his high ranking . Hope he comes over to Viejas for a game or two to watch the Aztecs , plus see the new practice facility being built .

Believe he played in the last big event weekend in July and played very well , retaining his high ranking . Hope he comes over to Viejas for a game or two to watch the Aztecs , plus see the new practice facility being built . This is an analysis from NBC Sports from the July Nike event. "First impressions on DeAndre Ayton: I got my first look at DeAndre Ayton, one of the best prospects in the Class of 2017, on Saturday afternoon in a consolation game in the EYBL’s 16U division. Ayton has an the ideal frame and physical gifts for a big man prospect and the kind of coordination that you rarely see out of a kid that size and age. But he has got a long, long way to go in his development. He doesn’t have the confidence in his post game to demand the ball when he gets position, he not strong enough to be the presence on the glass that he should be and the native Bahamian still looks like he is learning the game. That said … those physical gifts are really tantalizing, and his shooting stroke actually looked pretty decent."

The class of 2035 is looking good too. Kawhi Leonard and his wife think that their new son will be a solid 6'9" power forward that will be a 5* and should select SDSU over many other Blue Bloods. Coach Justin Hutson anticipates that this could be the best recruiting class ever for SDSU.

I think, especially blue bloods, have been recruiting underclass high school players for year, and Ayton is a sophomore this year. I feel that it is just the fact that there is more available information available at our fingertips, which leads to more desire for the information, which gets us the recruiting sites which thrive on having more and more players in their databases. It also is more noticeable since the Aztecs are a top tier team, and this actually get their name on these recruits early and we are paying attention, unlike 12 years ago. I mean, haven't we been basically recruiting leaf since he was in 7th or 8th grade?
