That would be fantastic if we get him this early. But I'm curious about the early decision. Hopefully it's a combo deal with Thompson.

JH 54,52,77. And yet they have his composite ranking at 126. ST 66,53,70. And yet they have his composite ranking at 134. Update: Verbal commits ranking page lists all recruits twice. So every composite ranking is double their actual ranking. 126 = #63 134 = #67 One of those little computer errors (human error using a computer) that in other circumstances would leave us all under the control of "evil" AI overlords

From Zigler's recent recruiting article:
JEREMY HEMSLEY
Size: 6-4, 170. Position: Guard.
High school: Damien High (La Verne)
Rating: 4 stars by Rivals.com (No. 77 nationally), ESPN (No. 52), Scout.com (No. 54)
Also considering: Arizona State, Boston College, Colorado, UConn, Gonzaga, New Mexico, Tulsa.
Scouting report: The quintessential slasher/scorer with a high motor and competitive fire that raises the intensity level of his teammates. Few prospects on the West Coast, and perhaps the nation, play with more energy. His coach at Damien, Matt Dunn, is a USD alum who got his start on Mike Haupt’s staff at Saint Augustine High. Hemsley’s ball-handling skills and court awareness make him the kind of combo guard that has thrived in SDSU’s system.

Any good comparisons of a similar prospect in past years?

Saw him play against St. Augustine last season and came away very very impressed with Hemsley. Has really good court vision and was really good at finding teammates for open looks. Excellent in traffic as well.
This would be a great get for us and would really set up the 2015 Class nicely. Hemsley and Cameron Walker are the 2 guys I have been really wanting from the 2015 class.

From that game. #3 in yellow = Kell = 21 points #42 in green = Hemsley = 28 points

What does Hemsley offer that Kell doesn't? Seems that with Kell and Shrigs we don't necessarily need another SG for another couple of years...although it sounds like he could possibly make the jump over to PG like Fisher has had success with before.

Hopefully we find out. If he signs those 3 will compete for playing time and gobble up some time at 1 or 3 also. We need quality depth. Aqeel Quinn will be gone and he will take his place.

Hemsley is much more athletic, and with his size Shrigley can easily play the three.

Aztecs will be losing JJ (SF/PF) , Polee (SF/SG), AQ ( PG /SG) . That means at least 3 scholarships ,possibly 4 if Winston (SG, PG, SF , even PF) leaves . Would guess the Aztecs would only sign guys that they think could be starters with in 2 years . Do not need to use all 3 or 4 scholarships if they feel they may want to have one for a transfer. They have also been going after PF/C Ernest Aflakpui . I would hope the guys coming in 2015 are able to challenge the current players for PT . This year think it is either Kell or Shrigley battling for PT . We should be getting better talent going forward and see Shrigley's time shrinking if we want to be taking a step forward .

Would love to land Hemsley today and Aflakpui this summer. Then top it off in the Spring with Grimes. Grimes is starting to skyrocket right now though and sounds like is waiting till the Spring which isn't a good sign. That would be a great class and mix in perfectly with who we have and who we'll need to replace.

Do not know if it matters much . Washington recruit M. Chris has been trying to get Hemsley to join him at U of W. Do not know if it hurts that bad if other recruits verbal in the later part of the summer after the Aztec coaches have had an opportunity to see many of the current players in the second summer session , so they know where the Aztecs will need the most help for 2015-16.

OMG, getting another recruit over New Mexico would be awesome! New Mexico and the Aztecs really aren't competing for the same players anymore. We compete against Gonzaga and Washington type schools while they are competing against St Mary's and UC Irvine type schools. New Mexico did offer Hemsley but accepted commitments from 2 other much lower rated SG for 2015, including a recent 2 star player. They know their place in the pecking order. That is rather harsh but it is the current truth.

Update: More analysts have picked SDSU in the past day and now 92% on 247 pick SDSU! This also includes a pick from a Washington Insider analyst. Let's hope he is right and UW doesnt get him.
