Would guess the Aztecs will have a difficult time recruiting top QB's until the Aztecs develop a reputation as being a QB oriented offense . CV would your guess be that the Aztecs start QK , have the red shirt freshman back him up and the other 3 QB's red shirt unless there is an injury or QK has a bad season . If so they convert one of the red shirts to active player

BYU has now offered Wilstead and him being from St. George you have to think he's LDS.
So in my best Tom Cruise "Ricky Business" voice: "Look's like it's Illinois . . . er Darnold!"

LA Times Friday Sports. 2015 is going to be one of the most talented years for QB's from the So Cal area . Blake Barnett ( N.D.Irish), Josh Rosen UCLA , Ricky Town USC , Brady White ASU , Tyler Hillinski WSU. Still out there Travis Waller- Servite(has 13 offers) , Sheriron Jones- Moreno Valley Rancho Verde , Sam Darnold - San Clemente . The QB is the most important position on the football team ,colleges want an early commitment to build excitement and plan for the future .

thought he was suppose to graduate by summer school and be able to play in the fall but it turns out he still needs fall semester of classes so he would need to sit a year before he can play

With all the QBs with SDSU offers: Gentry (Texas), White (Arizona State), Darnold (USC), and Wilstead (BYU) out of the picture, and with the transfer of Jake Rodrigues, is there still possibility the Aztecs will try to get a QB this signing period? Or does it look pretty settled with Rodrigues coming in to compete against Chapman, Bawden, Odeman, and Favreau?

CV as you point out do not just offer any QB , use the scholarships as needed or hold them for transfers

There's also the walk-on, Drew Anderson, from the Central Valley who I believed arrived in time for the first session of summer school. I think another QB out to be offered. I'm still baffled as to why the staff didn't offer this NorCal 4-star pro-style recruit who had/has SDSU on his schools of interest list. He committed to SMU last month. sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Kyle-Kearns-141954I think at this point, offering another JUCO would be a good idea for depth. These QBs from College of the Canyons and Sta. Monica College seem like good contenders: Tony Dawson (COC: Dual-threat) sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Tony-Dawson-162639cocathletics.com/sports/fball/2013-14/players/tonydawsontsk5www.hudl.com/athlete/895321/highlights/136807377Jake Dashnaw* (SMC: Pro-style) www.cccaastats.org/sports/fball/2013-14/players/jakedashnawzc4rwww.hudl.com/athlete/1412495/highlights/81747375rivals.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-Jake-Dashnaw-161792;_ylt=Aj.BVeU_gRS6Ic3OrUHraMhIPZB4*Dashnaw was previously the QB at College of the Canyons. It looks like he transferred to SMC to no longer split time with Tony Dawson. His Hudl clip shows him in COC uniform.

This guy left Wazzu in the off-season and is now at Mesa CC (Phoenix). UNM just offered him. rivals.yahoo.com/washingtonstate/football/recruiting/player-Austin-Apodaca-122639I rather we go after good quality HS QBs. After hearing Toledo speak highly of Bawden, it almost seems like he's the heir apparent. I say almost b/c Rodrigues will be in the mix too. If we can't land a good quality HS QB with the next class, I think Apodaca would be a good addition for depth.

Good kid; very likeable. Hated seeing him leave WSU. Could see him fitting into SDSU's system very well. That said, seems like we're much more in need of a good HS QB right now vs. a 2 for 2 type of QB. But yes, he'd be great for depth.

Let's be clear. Apodace wasn't recruited by Mike Leach. Also, after our two alleged stud o-linemen from outside Denver didn't pan out, I'm a bit leery of the quality of HS football in that area. With Bawden, Anderson and Chapman, it looks to me like we have plenty of depth to back up Rodrigues in 2015-2016 so IMO, we should let UNM have Apodaca.

Not initially, but he went hard after him when he was hired to keep him on board & even said he's the most accurate HS passer he'd seen in a long time. He really like Apodaca's game. Was coming along & would have been the #2 QB this year behind Halladay. The kid has game - Leach's offense just wasn't for him, and he thought Leach's top recruit thus far (Bruggman) would be the heir apparent, which is why he left. As it turned out Bruggman left as well. He's the kind of kid you want on your roster. Not too familiar with Bawden, Anderson & Chapman, so we may be fine. As mentioned, it has to be the right situation for a 2-for-2 QB to work out. But AA is a quality kid & QB.

Believe R.Lindley was cut from the Cards today . Hope QK , Bawden , J.R . can start a trend of being a school that is noted for having quality QB's

Bawden vs. Rodriguez is shaping up to be a hack of a battle next season! Love it.
