I have a hunch he will want to get into coaching so we should offer a GA spot.

Hate to see stuff like this. Prayers and best wishes go out to him and the entire Allen family. A stroke at just 27 years of age? Absolutely what you said.

He shouldn't have been allowed back in the game after his collision with the Bills' center. This is exactly what happened to Chargers lineman Kris Dielman a few years ago. He had the same type of collision against a Jets defender and was allowed to finish the game. He suffered a stroke during the plane ride back to San Diego and was forced to retire later. Not cool.

Wow. This game we all love can be brutal. Way to young to be told "time to retire". On the positive side he sounds like a good kid and someone that will succeed in anything he chooses to do. Prayers to Russell Allen and his family.
GO AZTECS!

My family has a history of diabetic strokes, not good. Best of luck to Allen, there's so much more to live for than just football. He can always come back to the Mesa and help coach (or mentor), if he wants to.
Oldie Out

The scary part is that Allen said it was a routine hit. If it wasn't for having that double vision, would he have noticed anything wrong? Makes you wonder how many players have received serious injuries from routine hits without realizing it

Guess I should consider myself lucky that I could still hit a curveball despite hands made of concrete…

The article mentioned that he was having trouble holding things , but that should progressively improve over time. My hope is that it won't be long before he can plant the spear at midfield. If anyone deserves the honor, it's Russell

Damn. How the hell did I miss this?
Unreal. Russell's a good guy and was one hell of a player at all levels of the game. I had the good fortune to watch him play for two years at Vista and the four years at SDSU. His motor NEVER stopped running.
I wonder how he's doing now. I hope he's making a solid recovery.
