How can the USU coach be ranked so low in this poll ,they beat BSU and even NI in the P-Bowl . Fresno coach had one of the best QB's in the country , lost key game to San Jose so did not get into a BCS Bowl , then got wacked by USC in the bowl game they played .

"A career grinder" WOW, they truly hit the nail on the head.
He has done a great job as a place holder as the admin figured out what to do with the program.
Strikes me funny that Hauck at UNLV, barred from the post season, is rated two slots above Rocky.
Fisher has a marketing book that Rocky should follow. Get coaches, players on the radio and TV every day. Let the community know them and embrace them. Once the community becomes committed to players on a personal level, they will come to the games, support the game and football can be as big as basketball. Until then, no one cares. No one cares because Rocky doesn't care what we think of his team. Time to plan for his exit. No more extensions please.

Yes, we should hire Stuart Smalley as our coach so he can do his daily affirmations. You guys crack me up.

Actually they lost to BSU, but I do believe they have a fine coach heading up their program.

Sort of reminds me of the poll taken before basketball started this season--the one that said the Aztecs would finish 4th in the MWC.

Rocky is indeed a "grinder."
I disagree with a number of placements, particularly Wyoming's guy at #2 on the list. Obviously Hayes is unaware that just two head coaches ago, Wyoming hired another former FCS stud who lasted four years in Laramie and then was fired.
Also this. The last four guys exemplify why the MWC is so terrible in football. When one-third of your HCs are miserable, just how good can your conference be?

Dienhart rated Chuck the absolute worst coach BEFORE the Chuckster went 2-10 and lost to Rocky by 63.
Coaches Dienhart greatly underrated: Jerry Kill, Al Golden and particularly Kevin Sumlin.

Not very well thought out list. Norm Chow at number 12? His program might be in the dumper now, but not due to Norm Chow.

Wasn't Rocky MWC coach of the year recently? Or, am I wrong about that? That's not bad for the #6 coach.

I don't care whether Rocky can shuck and jive and smile real white. I just want him to field a team that conforms to Generally Accepted Accounting Football Principles instead of always trying to be some kind of renegade who thinks that because other teams don't do it, it must be worth trying. Weird trend in the article. Best coaches are ones who have not coached at their schools and the worst have been there for 2-3 years. Kind of a lame rating system.

Bobby Hauk #3 is all you need to know about this list. ... No mention of NCAA Violations and no post season this year? Bleh! I'll take Rocky over any of those shmos.

I doubt anyone has won more league games than he has since he's been here. I find it surprising to be on the other side of the issue from you on this but Rocky's no better than second. DeRuyter has been in the MWC for two years during which he's won three more games than Rocky, lost to no FCS schools and beaten Rocky twice. However, I guess I'll concede that Rocky is probably as good as anybody else in the MWC such as Matt Wells or Jim McElwain and he's vastly superior to the Manny, Moe and Curly Joes at the bottom.

How can the USU coach be ranked so low in this poll ,they beat BSU and even NI in the P-Bowl . Fresno coach had one of the best QB's in the country , lost key game to San Jose so did not get into a BCS Bowl , then got wacked by USC in the bowl game they played . I am from san diego and going to USU. Just to clarify we didnt beat Boise. they beat us up here. It was the game after chuckie went down. We did win the division though over boise, thanks to you guys. Matt Wells almost left this past year. Wake Forest expressed interest in him. The only reason he stayed was because of his loyalty to chuckie. Once chuckie is out Wells will take the first offer given to him. He would prefer something in the BIG12 because that is where he is from. Here is a preview for my aggies as well www.sbnation.com/college-football/2014/4/18/5625140/utah-state-football-2014-preview-schedule-roster
