And its not even close. Head and shoulders above the local "talent" Um, Ello and Ben are local. Yes I know. They are head and shoulders above the REST of the local talent.

I like Sileo. He's not my favorite, but he's OK. Yes, he loves to name drop and talk about playing at Miami (which at that time was similar to what Alabama is now), but he doesn't big-time us. He's trying to fit in, and he gave Aztec BB a lot of love during the season. I listen to him from 6-7, but then switch to Chris and Ben on 1360.
I like Jay Mohr; his first college basketball coach he had on this year was Steve Fisher, plus I like the overall show. I stopped listening to Rome years ago. Unlike many here, I find Dan Patrick the most boring person in sports radio. Don't know why, just don't like the show. Much prefer Darren and Marty.
Even though Kaplan can be obnoxious, he's very pro-Aztecs (right now, anyway). Of course, a lot of it has to do with 1090 being the flagship station. Moving from 600 to 1090 was a great move. Other than Rome, all of the other hosts talk about the Aztecs. Much better than being the only sports on a news/polital radio station. Costa and the other guy on 1360 are also unlistenable.
1090 is also much better with Bill Werndl gone. I still remember listening to Fisher call him out and smack him down about never going to games several years ago.

It took me years to appreciate a good martini but I eventually came around. Dan Patrick was the same for me. Both are an acquired taste.
Good point about Kaplan becoming an Aztecs honk simultaneous with 1090 getting our business.
BTW, I'd love to see a transcript of a Scott & BR show which deletes everything Scott says. It would look something like this:
*****
BR: You're right, Scottie!
*****
BR: Wow!
*****
BR: Yeah, but . . .
*****
BR: Only when I'm driving my new SUV from North County Buick/GMC!
*****
BR: Not really.
*****
BR: Yeah, but . . .
*****
BR: Wow!

I would miss so many parts of the Scott and BR show during the season when they were regularly interviewing those from the basketball program that I signed up for the 1090 app.
I can go back and listen to interviews that they have been doing.
If you did not hear their interview with Coach Fisher the day after this season's NCAA tournament loss to AZ, then you are missing something.
There is always something to be learned from their interviews. Darren Smith's interviewing skills are the best part of his show. That and Marti's inside knowledge into Charger-land.
Sileo? I have barely listened to him. Is rather have Hacksaw though. Sileo is not bringing a national perspective that I would hope that he had.
The bottom line is that mornings belong to Colin Cowherd. He can be douchey, but he is opinionated yet knowledgeable and fact based to support his arguments.

I listened to Jay M part of the time, but that all ended when he shilled for Obamacare. Chris and Ben, D Smith and Martha lower on the ladder B R Smith and his partner BTW, Dan Patrick is the best interviewer on the radio, D Smith is a close second.

I wish 1090 would bring back Josh and Charod. Those guys were pretty good and they repped state. I guess 1090 can't afford another co-host... I love Scott and BR, but does anyone know what they make? Especially BR...

Kevin O comes on 1090 weekly but they should give him a Aztec Hour- he really knows his X's and O's.Enjoy the guys that are closer to being journalists Darren and Ben . BR and Coach at least have background when they ask questions and let guys answer the questions. Scott , Ello and Dan Sillyo both want to hear themselves talk , name drop ,the focus should be the teams not the MC's. The afternoon drive on 1360 are a joke at best. Do not realize it is the teams they cover that are important Aztecs AD should try to get as much Air time for football as they can during the pre season, and during the season. Ask to have a reporter at press conferences ( even bring quality mics ).Ask to do promos out in the community with football people . Training sessions with Adam Hall .

Seemed clear to me, but if it ever pops up again, I'll be sure to take into consideration the above- then again prolly not. And go ahead and put Darren Smith into the conversation if you like, but nobody remembers who finished second.

I've been an Ello fan for a very long time, but sometimes he really ticks me off. I let him know by email and explain that he has gone into timeout. He usually responds with a clarification and all is good. If i listed to the radio before 8:00 am. I might align with you, but I don't. For me, D Smith is the best.
