Let me preface what I want to say with a couple things. I've watched TJ play live and watched his highlights.
I get that he is a sophomore, just a kid, and is expertly talented, a coach's son, a heady player, good passer, great shooter for his size, decent ball handler, and great prospect with tons of translatable skills and talents. He will be an immediate contributor to whatever school he attends, especially if he continues to improve. He has an even-keel about him but seems to enjoy the game. He doesn't play in a top-league/conference but puts up big time stats.
He will continue to get more assertive and aggressive and skilled.
I really really really hope he comes to SDSU.
With all that said... He's soft as dog$#!+.

The "soft" comments seem stupid. The kid is barely 16 years old. We offered early and by all accounts Leaf's dad has a healthy relationship with Fisher. It's too bad about Troy Leaf, but in the end everyone recognized that Troy was not cut out for SDSU. Troy is now flourishing at Azusa Pacific and he was just named a first team all-conference player for the second year in a row. Yet Leaf's parents are from Indiana and Leaf's dad has been a Hooser fan since the age of 12. Here's Leaf's dad describing what it was like to be in the room when Indiana offered: It was "a very special moment for me as a father and his coach." And here's Leaf's dad on whether IU is one of the leaders: “Oh, heck yeah. Yeah, definitely. They’ll always be seen as one of the leaders. This is 40 years of roots, for me and my wife. That’s all T.J. has heard since he’s been able to watch basketball.” www.insidethehall.com/2013/09/06/q-brad-leaf-discusses-sons-visit-indiana/EDIT: Oops Standiego, you're right. I said Kell but meant Leaf. Change made.

Frantic are you talking about Kell or Leaf . Unless The Hoosiers decide they do not want Leaf , he sure seems to be headed that way . Prefer efforts go for M.Cage Jr.

He will only get stronger and more physical. High school kids change a lot year by year.
He will be a very good player.

The last couple of years the Aztecs have really been missing a post player who can shoot from 15-20 feet. Someone who can make opposing bigs leave the basket. It would be great to get a player like Leaf.
Rockshow: I'm guessing you might be full of insecurities and/or inadequacies to hurl an insult at a kid like that.

Whatever, I prefaced it with like 30 compliments and qualifications. Dude shies away from contact and doesn't use his size effectively IMO. I get that's a common tendency for a young kid who is only a sophomore and he will grow into his body and the killer instinct doesn't always come till later on. I'm just calling it as a see it. I agree that a big man who can shoot would be a big addition. Thanks for the insult tho! (Maybe a little projection on your part?)

Kid's game is nice yo. Full skillset. Doubt he comes here. This is an idiotic thing to say. Aztecs have a good shot at all of the players they recruit now. We are not some backwater team trying to build a reputation. We have an elite coach, great facilities, THE SHOW, incredible players, this is SAN DIEGO. To say because he has a full skillset, therefore he won't come here is ridiculous. The inferiority complex needs to stop. Go Aztecs!

They guy is almost a lock for the Hoosiers . Believe the Aztecs did offer . Takes two to make it work .He does not seem to value the Aztecs as much as he does the Hoosiers . Doubt the family feels great about the older brothers situation , politely saying no thanks to the Aztecs . So move on . Can we also take a close look at San Diego County Basketball . Aztecs got Kell who was the top player . Was Shrigley the best player two years ago . Chol a couple of years before that. Most of the San Diego teams lost to the LA / OC teams in CIF this year and Torrey Pines T. Did Leaf dominate in those games. There are not many quality big players in the county , so it is not that easy to evaluate the talent .

If TJ Leaf comes to SDSU, I will take a video of me eating a deflated basketball and post it on these message boards. Also, it's not a big deal, because he is soft as baby wipes and MJ Cage is way better.

To say because he has a full skillset, therefore he won't come here is ridiculous. The inferiority complex needs to stop. Go Aztecs! Calm down, Tex. My post had absolutely nothing to do with an inferiority complex. The truth is, I follow Aztecs basketball recruiting way more than any grown man should. By all accounts, TJ has been a strong IU lean for a long time, or at least his family has. Michigan and UCLA have put themselves in great position also. I have yet to see much of anything to show promise for SDSU. On top of all that, the Aztecs over recruited his older brother, who had been a solid verbal for 3+ years prior. Some say its now water under the bridge with the Leaf family, I kind of doubt that. TJ is a national recruit, a likely McDonald's All American. Our only glimmer of hope here is that he is a local recruit. The fact that he is a big man makes it even more unlikely we land him. This opinion is just from watching the players Fish has recruited in his time here, and who the staff has developed, and big men have not been much of a part of the formula. Our style of play simply does not favor most big men. It favors long, lean, bouncy, athletic bigs who can run the floor and block shots. Too early to tell how TJ's body/game will develop, but we really have zero track record with PF's and C's. I will gladly eat a massive bowl of crow if he committed to SDSU, believe me. Like Rockshow, I am also in the MJ Cage is a better fit for us camp. Lets get him.
