We have 4 open scholarships in 2016, and were looking at these 4 Bigs MJ Cage 6'10 220 4-star, Ben Kone' 6'9 240 3* from Arch Bishop Mitty in SJ, Trevor Stanback 6'10 215 4* out of Maranatha in Pasadena and Zach Collins 6'10 240 4* from bishop Gorman in LV.
We need to land a couple of them MJ and Standback would be my wish for Xmas.

Enjoyed this post from Rivals about Mater Dei. Paragraph #4 written very pro Aztec! Nice. Looking forward to MJ Cage at the Mesa! PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -- On the second day of the Maxpreps Holiday Classic, a new look Mater Dei squad established that they are still a squad to be reckoned with. Cody Riley turned up the energy when his Sierra Canyon squad needed it the most and Bryce Peters continued to establish himself as one to watch on the West Coast Gone is star Stanley Johnson and gone is Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei's 46-game winning streak. But, legendary coach Gary McKnight's squad is still stocked with talent and a major threat to win a fifth straight state title in California. The Monarchs are also looking like a threat to win the Holiday Classic after dispatching Hayward (Calif.) Moreau Catholic on Saturday night to earn a semifinal berth. Though they don't have a national top five talent like Johnson, the Monarchs still have plenty of firepower and their leader is senior shooting guard Rex Pflueger. Headed to Notre Dame (who had an assistant on hand), the No. 98 player in the class of 2015 looks to be benefiting from playing a more central role. A good athlete and very good on-the-ball defender, Pflueger is relied upon for a lot of ball-handling and he looks more comfortable with his jumper than he did last summer. Down in the post, junior M.J. Cage continues to develop. A 6-foot-9 center with long arms, Cage is a model of efficiency on the block. He keeps the ball high, uses his long arms to reach over defenders for offensive rebounds and seems to have a knack for beating other bigs up the floor for dunks. On Saturday night, Cage stuffed the stat sheet to the tune of 21 points, eight rebounds and four blocks. San Diego State still appears to be the team to beat but Arizona's Sean Miller, USC's Andy Enfield and an assistant from Washington were on hand to keep tabs on 2016's No. 36 player. Also helping out is senior combo guard Lavette Parker. A 6-foot-1 shooter, Parker is pure from deep when he gets his feet set and plays with toughness. Finally, freshman power forward Michael Wang looks like a pretty skilled post player to keep an eye on down the road. sandiegostate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1719572

Wow steal one from psycho path Calipari. That's awesome. Guess he wants a coach like Fisher that acts with composure.

Honestly anyone who has seen what Coach Fisher has done at SDSU should realize that HE does MORE with LESS than Sean Miller. UofA continuously gets top recruits but cant get any further than the elite 8. SDSU is barely starting to get a few top recruits and are just breathing down the wildcats back every year. If Fisher & Staff can get a Michael Cage Jr. into the mix that would be HUGE.

He can Verbal any time he wants ,,from today thru early NLI : November of 2015 but some wait until Spring of 2016 . Would guess he watches what guys from Kentucky , leave Kentucky for NBA this year or next , who they add for 2015 and add for 2016 . Same for guys at Duke , Arizona ... He knows he is top of the list for UCLA , SDSU , Gonzaga ..... Could be an idea to have him play this year to see how high up the rating board he could climb . He has stated he prefers to play PF so team that wants him better have a C and quality PG . Believe currently there are 5 guys ahead of him at PF . But we all know SDSU would take him in a heart beat .

Stan, there are barely any teams these days that use "centers". Every big guy is a forward/SF and smaller players are PG/SG. I don't even remember the last center we had... I guess you could say Carlwell but he rode pine a lot so I don't really count that. Mike Mackell maybe? but he wasn't all that big. We won't have a center on the roster which is fine, we'll just run forwards like we always do. SDSU hardly even has positions... everyone is versatile

Cage would keep SDSU as a Top 25 program. But they need to land another athletic SF in that class to keep going as a Sweet 16 type team. I'm hoping that Cage commits sooner rather than later so he can start recruiting guys to fill out what could be another amazing class.

If Z hasn't played in any games during the season then he's redshirted.

As of today he would be considered a red shirt . They can remove that at any time and put him on the active squad . Say if JJ , Chol or Spencer get injured , then they could remove his status as red shirt , put him on the active list and play . Right now with the improved play of Allen SF, for Shepard, coaches are having Pope play(who they need to play more) as PF as reserve for JJ- who gets the most PT .so not sure where Zylan gets PT ? We do need to recruit a guy at least 6'9" to play in the middle no matter what you call C , or the 5 . Cage prefers to play PF not C 5 or whatever . He can be like Spencer , M. Thomas . Defender , Rebounder , or I would enjoy it if he even was a guy who was really involved in the offense and scorer . The more the Aztecs use Spencer and Chol that way could help the team recruit a quality C

I don't see how people keep thinking Cheatham is going to be a 1-3 year player. We haven't even seen him play, and he wasnt even rated all that high by rivals/espn/scout etc. He was toward the back end of the top 100, and there's countless players even in the top 50 each year who don't ever go pro, let alone leave early. To assume he'll leave early is totally foolish IMO.
The chances of you guys being disappointed when he steps on the court is extremely high since a lot of you think he's the second coming of Shawn Kemp Look at some other high rated aztecs such as Abukar & Lo Wade. Both much higher rated than Cheatham and they didn't make it but were solid college players. Tyrone Shelley was in the same ball park as far as the standings in the top 100 and look how that turned out.
PS... I probably shouldn't have said all that since I don't want to de-rail the thread, but I had to say it after reading the previous post
