Win 30+ and get into the sweet 16, then we have a shot. I was at school when Mike Cage Sr was there, Smokey Gains talked him into leaving Arkansas for SDSU. Smokey was a salesman, but as I recall Michael had a very good time at SDSU.

Key player still is Kentucky . they added another center for 2015 . But seem to produce numerous guys for the NBA at C/PF . Aztecs have not .. Any one know if Cage prefers to play PF rather then C . If so it will be important to have a C for him to work with . Is BJ (2015 recruit) a Center or PF .?

I read an article quoting him saying he'd like to be a 4 and work on becoming a stretch 3 who can shoot from outside Correction --- I think the right term would be stretch-4, not stretch 3

So Aztecs lose Spencder and Chol after 2015 . Have BJ for 2016 at center-is that his best position ? so we may need another Center for 2016: Transfer or 2016 recruit ? that could be key to attract Cage , also a PG that gets him the ball ( Kell , Zabo ,Helmsley)

Dad has already said in the end it will be Jr.'s decision . All factors add up though . Right now it would seem to be who provides the best path for a big man into the NBA .

He is listed as a PF. Below is the free part of the ESPN Scouting report. You can make up your own mind: Jones has a tremendous frame with very long arms and he is quite explosive. He runs like a deer in transition and is a very fluid athlete with great feet and outstanding athleticism overall. He can score with dunks in transition, put-backs, and an occasional drop-step move.Rivals: Thin big man is developing as a shot blocker/rebounder and runs the floor incredibly well. He shows flashes on offense but is still more potential than production at this stage in his development.

Leaf is off the list. Cage and Stanback are our big targets for 2016. Bigs will get PT on the national stage.

I would think that it would be good for Cage to choose SDSU if he would like to have a chance to be an NBA Finals MVP some day. I could see if that is not an interest, he could want to go to Arizona or Kentucky. Neither of those schools have advanced a player to that level. That is probably why Leaf went to the Cats.

Kentucky has been the team that has developed many of the PF 's for the NBA . But most of their guys are so good they usually go to the lower level lottery teams . You are not going to be the NBA MVP on a lower level team. Aztecs may want to work on developing Spencer and Chol , to show they can assist PF's . Davis is trying to get there , M.Thomas has bounced around . Others have gone to Europe .

That is kind of a non sequitur. Those schools launch many to the NBA. What they do after getting there has little to do with becoming a finals MVP. That is on the player and his ability to rise up and perform on that stage. Sent from with dial-up on my Admiral Mark 01 Telegraph machine via Sputnik

Furthermore, I heard on Thursday during the Steve Fisher show that it is Hutson , that works with the defense, and Dutcher handles the offense. With our offense being what it is, perhaps Fisher can hire a new coach to handle the offense and just have Dutcher sit there.

going to be his decision not dads . Kentucky has the best track record for PF's going to the NBA . Could depend on who else Kentucky adds from the PF's rated above Cage or if Arizona or Kansas does the same . But numerous guys even go to Kentucky to play on their second team , that could beat a majority of the other colleges There are a limit on coaches Fisher can hire . Shelton is a coach on SDSU . plus there is a guy named Bill Walton in the city that loves to provide suggestions .

Young folks here know with so much certainty.... Cage Jr had has own unique issues that will help him come to a decision. None here have any clue what is going to drive his decision. His dad may not know either. He had been pretty transparent about letting Junior decide on his own.

SDSU has a lot going for it, a legendary coach, The Show, The Jam Center, a Great City very close to home and probably significant playing time. Kentucky always has a logjam of talented big men, but at SDSU Mr. Cage will be the man.

I would take Cage in a heart beat . He has said we wants to play PF , so we better make sure we have a Center - so far that may be BJ. plus another HS recruit or transfer for 2016 . Cage is consider #36 , with 4* , so there are about 5 other PF's rated above him , including Leaf going to Arizona . So maybe Kentucky has eyes on other PF's that are rated higher . Would also guess Kentucky has facilities that are even better then those at SDSU , plus will have the other benefits the P5 schools will also have going for them . Every recruit is different but would guess the guys in the top 50 all look at getting to the NBA as quickly and prepared to contribute as important part of their shopping lists for colleges .
