I get on Aztec Mesa every night before bed to read up on the new developments and chatter on everything Aztecs. Rarely do I chime in, and for that I feel like a loser.
With this being said, I am a HUGE Aztec Sports junkie...especially basketball. I remember the days at Peterson Gym. Midnight Madness with Ephraim Salaam, throwing down dunks. Yes, he is better known for his ability on the football field, but do you remember him on the hoops squad as well?
I think about how far we have come. I marvel on the job Steve Fisher has done with our beloved team. I too was one to say he we under-performing in the early years...Well, I put my foot in my mouth, and it wont be the last time.
Question...Who is your favorite Aztec basketball player of all-time? The obvious choice for all of us is Kawhi Leonard. But my question to all of you is who else? Who else do you love and do you feel helped us become the program we are today?
- Brandon Heath - Marcus Slaughter - DJ Gay - Richie Williamms - X-Man
Love to hear your thoughts and thanks for the constant entertainment on Aztec Mesa...Win or Lose!
Ish...Out!

Also I think that DeAndre Moore, Randy Holcomb, and Al Faux will always be up there.

Also I think that DeAndre Moore, Randy Holcomb, and Al Faux will always be up there. Faux hands down. No one wanted and made more big shots, and that includes Gay. Holcomb and Faux had no supporting cast at all and that is why they are my all time favorites, accomplished so much with so little.

Right now it is X, because he is doing it for us. He kept us in this game.

My list would not make the lineup on our recent teams except for Cage. I liked Steve Copp, Tony, Anthony Watson and Joel Kramer.

DJ Gay. Ability-wise, I think DJ Gay and Xavier are similar. However, DJ gave great interviews.

Faux has to make it for me. He was huge and that was during my time at state. Honorable mention for Billy, I absolutely loved his game. JJ is up there too.
Hopefully in a couple months my answer is changed to X for him guiding us to the FF (and beyond?)

Couple of different questions in that post get different answers.
Randy Holcolmb - first modern day big time recruit to choose SDSU when conventional wisdom was not to
Tony Gwynn - because he is possibly the finest human being I know , bonus that he is a HOF'er
Michael Cage - our first NBA star
Chase Tapley - coaches dream , did so many things that didn't show up in the box score ...oh, and the box score is pretty dam n good too!
Evan Burns - McDonalds all American , man would have loved to see what he could have done if he hadn't gotten hurt.

Holcomb. He was the first legit player in the Fisher era. He started it all.
Just wondering, how many minutes would he, or Bland, or Faux get on today's team?
