Aztec fans,
Point me to the best California Burrito in town! Any other restaurant recommendations would be appreciated as well. "Cheap Eats" preferred. I am considering, Phil's BBQ, Tacos El Gordo, Carnita's Snack Shack, and Lucha Libre taco shop. Steer me elsewhere if I am off course. I can't wait for the bowl and to visit one of my favorite cities in the country!

I've got a family member that works at Carnita's Snack Shack...tremendous. I can't get past the Triple Threat sandwich. My son's friends own Lucha Libre...fun and delicious. Best ribs IMHO are in Lemon Grove at Coop's, but Phil's has become iconic around here.

Great Thai food at Saffron on India as well.

I don't think SD's BBQ is very good when compared to the rest of the county, though, it might be better than Utah's (?). Tacos El Gordo is good, but man up and go to TJ if you want street tacos. Here the 2 can't miss places in San Diego: Super Sergio's Taco Shop: Order their Carne Asada fries with a flower tortilla to use as your fork to eat the fries with. You might move to San Diego after eating this meal! Their California Burrito is the best in San Diego, hands down. I'm fat, I've tried a lot of them. www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g32767-d893112-Reviews-Super_Sergio_s-National_City_California.htmlLa Bella's Pizza: Best pizza on the planet! Recently, San Diego was named the top city in the country to for pizza ( newsfeed.time.com/2013/08/10/and-the-top-10-cities-for-pizza-are/ ) Personally, I have enjoyed pizza in Rome, Chicago, Seatlle, Los Angeles, Austin, San Francisco, Portland, Las Vegas, among others, and I can say with full confidence the best pizza on the planet is at La Bella's Pizza Garden. If you're into beer, hit it up on Tuesday or Wednesday for San Diego Pint Night where you can enjoy the best brews from the nation's best beer city. www.labellapizza.com/Don't thank me until after you've gone!

You have done your research. Your list is already very strong. I am proud of you.
Trujillos has a strong burrito game, across the street from SDSU's campus. If you are feeling adventurous, Tacos El Paisa in Logan Heights is excellent, as is Las Cuatro Milpas for an egg/chorizo bowl with the best tortillas you can find. Not the best neighborhood but these are friendly food stops for sure. For fish tacos, go to Bluewater in Mission Hills/Old Town area or go to South Beach in OB, which aslo has Hodad's across the street for an excellent hamburger, even if it is a bit overhyped coupled with a very long line. Can get an insanely good burger at Rocky's in Pacific Beach also.
One of my favorite spots is also the Kebab Shop - in Little Italy or in downtown. Get a lamb Doner, its outstanding.
All of the above will satisfy you at $15 or less, tip included.

Broken Yolk or The Mission for breakfast / brunch...

If you don't imbibe at Carnitas Snack Shack, you'll be missing one of the GREAT eateries in SD. If you want great Chicago style pizza, try Lefty's on 30th Street. The food truck further south on 30th has the best fish tacos I've had outside Mexico. Best happy hour with the best view of San Diego skyline is SEA LEVEL/Island Prime. Have a great time, hope your team does well, leave lots of your money here. :-)

We need to recycle this same thread every year! (That's no knock on you, Aggie).
But fwiw...
When friends/family are in town, the must-stops are...
Point Loma Seafoods for a fish sandwich El Indio on India for Mexican Johnny B's in La Mesa Village for burgers, or Rocky's in PB
And for my own L.A.-centric taste in burgers... Tommy's up on Clairemont Mesa Blvd
That's about as cheap as I can recommend and still vouch for the taste!

That place is amazing.
