Marcus Lee is not getting very much playing time at Kentucky. Lee is the 8th or 9th man in the rotation, at least in the games I have watched that was his role. Kentucky has 2 more 5 star power forward/center types coming in next year & could return at least 2 bigs from this years team. I would project Lee to be the 7th or 8th guy in the rotation in 2014 as a sophomore; furthermore, the way Kentucky recruits I think the will recruit over Lee his entire time there. IMO, Lee will transfer after his Freshman year. The question is, would the Aztecs be interested? Lee would be a Sophmore in 2015 under this scenario, making it 5 players in that Aztec class. I would rather recruit a big like Chriss and a top level point guard who would be Freshman in 2015 so that we even out how many players we have in each class.

Did we recruit him at all? The only info I could find listed Kentucky and Cal. Am I missing some link to SDSU? Was he at all interested in us? Or is this just another, hey, look, a talented player from the west coast MAY transfer?

We recruited him but did not make his top five or maybe eight.

We were early on him and were pretty high up when he was around the DA area 75th or so, then he blew up and jumped up to rarified air.

Well then; maybe we will, after all be considered again. His bio and stats seem very impressive. Thanks for the follow-up info.

It was his decision to sign as the #6 ranked freshman recruit there. That is baffling to me.

He must not play defense or is in Caliparis doghouse. He went off in their first game and has barely sniffed the court since. If it's his defense, sdsu is the perfect fit, a redshirt season with fish and staff and he'll be good to go.

He was the 4th to sign but Randle and C Dakari Johnson were likely going to sign there. Still baffling to me with that kind of info out there.

The problem that we had is no longer an issue, and that was the move to the Big West. McDonalds All Americans don't want to play in high school gyms, dont blame 'em. I still think he would have chosen one of the blue bloods over us, but we would have been (and are in) a far more favorable position now being in a much better conference. Between the new practice facility and our very strong class coming in (other recruits notice when schools land some stud players), we're bound to land one of these really big names sooner than later I would think.

In that case I wish we were recruiting '15 Ivan Rabb from Oakland.

Always good to bring back this thread, 12 minutes, 5 fouls, 0 pts and no future in Blue.

Transferring from UK. Unlikely to be in position to graduate and be eligible immediately. Glad we have Izundu this year, but Lee could have been a great fit next year, but no scholarships available.

He's a semester away from graduating and will have to sit out a year. espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/15722460/isaiah-briscoe-return-kentucky-wildcats-sophomore-season-marcus-lee-transfer "Marcus Lee informed us today that he is pulling his name out of the draft but has decided he is going to transfer to a school out west to be closer to his family," Calipari said.
"We talked it through together and discussed the team next season, which he said had no bearing on his decision. I also told him he was a semester away from graduating. With that said, he was still adamant that, after the combine experience, a year off and regrouping would be the best thing. As always I support my players and their decisions."

I'm not sure I'd touch him - you could hand him a scholarship, he could attend classes for a year & graduate, then transfer once again & be immediately eligible. Or he could put himself right into the NBA draft again before ever playing for you. I'm not a fan of putting someone on scholarship for 2 years to potentially get 1 year unless you have more than 1 open scholarship & anticipate needing a BIG class next year. If we had 2 open now & expected a class of 5 or 6 next year then maybe. UNLV has schollies to spare, and Vegas would be the perfect spot to prepare for the draft next year if he goes in that direction. Tough situation for him & definitely never bad to move closer to home. Wish him the best.

I'd guess it'll be a MW school where he doesn't see a lot of competition ahead of him. So probably UNLV, Nevada ,Fresno State or UNM.

I'd give Lee a scholarship easily if we had one. We do not however, wouldn't be surprised if he picks Cal (not sure scholarship situation)
