I can't disagree, aztech. I'm not in favor of hiring slimeballs but SDSU is squeekier clean than it needs to be IMO.

Ogeron should be a Wyo candidate. That is a personality that could shake that program into another level. There is no "another" level for Wyoming, they play at their level year in and year out.

I understand the constant hey how about this guy for our new head football coach. Rocky isn't Mr. Personality. His teams don't seem to come out every game with fire from start to finish. He doesn't seem to care if they win a bowl game but it's just for the kids. He doesn't do things the normal way. But he's been successful here and almost had another amazing season with inexperienced DB's (which are extremely important in his D) and at first starting a running QB under a pass first OC and later a walk-on QB. He's destroyed the confidence of every kicker we've had which is a problem though. But replacing him with a 10-25 (not counting USC) head coach. Orgeron wants to be a HC at a top program and would jump after one year if he could. I'm no Rocky fan but I'd much rather take a guy who's kept the program at a level we didn't have for 20 years. If you can be consistent for a long period of time your program will strengthen. We need to have 5 really solid recruiting classes where a group of those kids really blossom. I believe it'll happen and in a couple of years when we have an experienced QB in the system we'll have a season like Fresno State just had. I find that comment interesting. I've always suspected that Rocky had a boner for McMorrow. I also have seen Rocky as a vindictive, passive-aggresive type. Players would die for Coryell. For Rocky, meh. This relates to their spotty results. The team has motivated itself this year, they haven't rallied around an inspiring consistent older leader. Don't count this as a fire-Rocky post. I'm not sure we can afford anyone better.

So what you guys want is a young, proven, non-smoking saint who can change the program for $800K a year? Not going to happen. Personally, I'd be satisfied with a guy that showed some passion and personality with a vision of something other than the status quo. Spot on....Rocky drips of mediocrity and that is where we shall remain with him as a coach

Ogeron would bring in big time recruits- from So. Cal to the deep South.

I believe Orgeron to be a good coach, and he did a great job at U$C the past year. But, Haden probably made the correct decision in not hiring him as HC. Why? The major question to ask is how did he do against two regular, and major rivals? Notre Dame, UCLA. It was his first year facing them as HC, but he lost to both. And, at U$C you don't lose to your main rivals (both in the same year), and stay on very long. Plus, it was the second year in a row that UCLA had beat them even though Oregon was not the head man when they lost last year. Orgeron would make a very good assistant coach at any school, but I am sure Pat Haden believed he got a better HC, and recruiter in Sark. And, he was younger which means he would be staying on longer as the main man assuming he coaches the team well. It was his decision, so we'll see how it works out. I would call Orgeron to see if he would be interested as our Special Teams coach, or may be DC? ? Nah, Rocky wants to remain there.
