I like this part: Fullerton resident Jennifer Harris thought she had a great deal, paying $98 a month for an individual plan through Health Net Inc. She got a rude surprise this month when the company said it would cancel her policy at the end of this year. Her current plan does not conform with the new federal rules, which require more generous levels of coverage. Now Harris, a self-employed lawyer, must shop for replacement insurance. The cheapest plan she has found will cost her $238 a month. She and her husband don't qualify for federal premium subsidies because they earn too much money, about $80,000 a year combined. "It doesn't seem right to make the middle class pay so much more in order to give health insurance to everybody else," said Harris, who is three months pregnant. "This increase is simply not affordable." Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards

I usually just read the posts here, but thought I'd add my voice to this one. Just lost our family coverage because of the new Obamacare requirements coming in. Background ... husband and wife and a college age kid. I have a small business and have to provide my own insurance. We're all healthy. No pre-existing conditions. We don't take any medications. No diseases, no specialists and no treatments. No claims ever on this policy since 2009 ... we've never hit the deductible ($2500) so all our costs have been out of pocket. 2009 - $606/mo 2010 - $711/mo 2011 - $711/mo 2012 - $987/mo (Anthem blamed the increase on ACA compliance rules) 2013 - policy terminated (non-ACA compliant). New plan offered $1723/mo ($5000 deductible). We are now, as of last week, uninsured ... we quite simply can't afford 30% of our take home income going towards healthcare insurance. Not and make ends meet. Unfortunately, it's a choice we have to make to be able to continue to live in our modest home and send our son to State, and pay all our bills. Many in my small business network are also in the same situation. (If you haven't seen the news reports, hundreds of thousands of people in California with privately purchased insurance have been dropped from their plans in the past few weeks). The last two weeks have been ugly for all of us small businesses. We are not union, big business or Congressmen, so we do not get any relief, waivers, or breaks. In addition, our tax/fee/compliance burden to the Feds and California has gone up by almost 30% in the past couple of years on the same revenue. Its a challenge just to stay in business. But yippee ... now we have to pay more tax because we can't afford insurance - my accountant says the penalty will rise to about 15% of the cost of buying insurance, which is about what we can afford. So I've got no insurance, but I'm sure glad I can pay for someone else to have their coverage. Obama's promises: "If you're one of the more than 250 million Americans who already have health insurance, you will keep your insurance." LIE "If you like your health care plan, you'll be able to keep your health care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what." LIE "If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor. Period.". LIE "If you already have health insurance, the only thing that will change for you under this plan is the amount of money you will spend on premiums ... which will be less". LIE "I am actually not interested in just capping premiums. I will lower premiums by an average of $2,500 per family, per year". LIE "Knowing you can offer your family the security of health care, that's priceless. Now, you can do it for the cost of your cable bill, probably less than your cellphone bill. Think about that, good health insurance for the price of your cellphone bill or less." (Obama - 9/20/2013!) LIE I am really, really sorry I voted for hope and change. The change totally sucks and there's no hope it'll get any better. Those obama promises tell the tale. How all the morons bought into this "victim in chief" is hilarious. And this Liar knew all these lies right after the Bill was passed. And of course, he didn't know. Right Jay Carney? Repeal the bill and start over.

I'm quite sure you thought Obamacare would never happen either. I'd guess that had you been alive at the time, you would have said women's suffrage would never happen. Not even close. Obamacare passed with the control of both houses in a very short window. As we see from all his lies, the low informed public thought it was a good deal. Everyone likes feel good laws. With the costs and turmoil going on today with this ridiculous program, the public is finally seeing what a mess govt. makes of things. Though I think their should be reforms in health insurance and affordability of care, the govt. is not the answer. There are other options which were never discussed, but should be. We have already blown through over $700,000,000.00 and so far it's a bust. What level do we reach before it is scrapped? And now the lame stream media is FINALLY starting to criticize Obama and saying WTF? Obama et al are all about control and big burocracy, and that goes against the grain of individualism and self responsibility which this country was founded on.
