I've been a Padre fan for as long as I can remember. I've gown sick and tired of seeing the team wear those bland blue uniforms. I dont care for the camo uniforms either. I dont care if we live in a military town, I dont want to see it in baseball.
who else wants to see a return to the traditional Brown uniforms?

I have always liked the brown and gold. Any Padre gear I get is brown and gold and I wish they would go back to it. The current uniforms are the dullest, blandest uniforms in baseball. It's embarrassing. I would use the font from the last Qualcomm era unis but put it in brown with gold trim. Also not a fan of the Camo unis but at least they have some brown in them. I will not buy any blue Padre gear. Never have...never will. But I'll take it as free gifts!

I would use the font from the last Qualcomm era unis but put it in brown with gold trim. If you excluded all piping, pinstripes, and patches, I'd like this, especially if the brown were very dark. No orange, please. Then you'd have to talk fowler into painting the seats. The hats IMO should go back to the beginning with the interlocking "SD" style they used from 1969-1984. I know that fowler is reading this, so here's message just for him: Changes to uniforms (whether or not I like those changes) will NOT bring me back to that stadium. Only a ML payroll in the top 66% of MLB would do that. (Note that I didn't say, "a payroll more like the Yankees and Red Sox.") Given the equity on this franchise alone, a payroll of 19th or 20th out of 30 shouldn't be too much to ask. Below is the team salaries on opening day. The 20th team of 30 (top 66%) is around $84M. So the Padres need to add $16,000,000 in salary to get you as a fan. That is a bargin, I might pay that much just to have you as a fan 1 | New York Yankees | $228,106,125 | 2 | Los Angeles Dodgers | $216,753,286 | 3 | Philadelphia Phillies | $159,585,714 | 4 | Boston Red Sox | $154,555,500 | 5 | Detroit Tigers | $148,693,600 | 6 | Los Angeles Angels | $137,271,250 | 7 | San Francisco Giants | $136,908,777 | 8 | Texas Rangers | $125,340,100 | 9 | Toronto Blue Jays | $119,277,800 | 10 | Chicago White Sox | $118,914,500 | 11 | Washington Nationals | $118,289,679 | 12 | St. Louis Cardinals | $116,790,787 | 13 | Cincinnati Reds | $106,855,533 | 14 | Chicago Cubs | $106,837,810 | 15 | New York Mets | $93,684,590 | 16 | Baltimore Orioles | $92,238,333 | 17 | Atlanta Braves | $90,039,583 | 18 | Milwaukee Brewers | $88,828,333 | 19 | Arizona Diamondbacks | $86,300,500 | 20 | Seattle Mariners | $84,199,643 | 21 | Minnesota Twins | $82,010,000 | 22 | Kansas City Royals | $81,871,725 | 23 | Cleveland Indians | $80,605,733 | 24 | Colorado Rockies | $73,949,071 | 25 | San Diego Padres | $68,333,600 | 26 | Pittsburgh Pirates | $66,805,000 | 27 | Oakland Athletics | $61,964,500 | 28 | Tampa Bay Rays | $61,928,975 | 29 | Miami Marlins | $50,526,900 | 30 | Houston Astros | $26,105,600 |

Holy crap!! No wonder the Astros suck. Only about half the payroll of the 29th rated team.

If the Astros would only change their jersey's back to those polyester striped retirement home jerseys, they would be a better ballclub.

The only reason I'd like to see a return to the brown would be for selfish, sentimental reasons. Further, I didn't like any of the brown uni's except 1977 and earlier. 2. They'd have to change the colors of the seats. Given that they don't even want to pay ushers, I wouldn't expect our moneybags beer vendor owner to be doing that. 3. Agree on the camo outfits. My dad was a vet, support the troops, blah blah but they are an eyesore. On Sundays when they're home I listen on the radio. If I'm in the bar I avert my eyes or watch another game. It's kinda like the Boise blue field. I just can't look at it without getting mildly irritated. (Then on an unrelated note to put those soldiers in the most obstructed view seats in the place is not what I'd call "honoring the military.") Aside from the earliest Padre brown uni's my favorites have been the ones from right at the end of the San Diego Stadium era (although I was never crazy about the piping and the patch): I also liked very much the PCL outfits they wore a few weeks back: People forget that the Padres' original colors were not mustard and brown. The original owner C. Arnholt Smith liked those colors so that's what we got when the team moved to the majors. Sorry you don't like the Marine Corps camo jerseys. Every single Marine who goes through MCRD San Diego (every Marine from west of the Mississippi River) attends the Sunday game and overwhelmingly appreciates the gesture. They carry that appreciation with them as they move on. It resonates throughout the Corps and other military folks I've spoken with appreciate is as well and wish their team did it as well. The players are on record as liking it as well. FWIW Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards

They are part of the fan base that marketing seeks to also reach. Sorry you don't want to be reminded that there are Marines out there tonight and Sundays standing in harms way so you can ignore them and not be reminded. The first uniforms The Pads wore in the early 70's aren't bad, but the orange is kind of clownish. Brown can work with black and grey as secondary colors. Earth tones, monkish.
The current unis are too conservative. When you change colors every 12 years it kind of diminishes the team's history IMO.

The paradox here is that just about the only person not reminding us is the commander-in-chief. They are part of the fan base that marketing seeks to also reach. Well I didn't even go there, although I considered doing so. Since you did, wouldn't you consider that a form of exploitation? No different than the pink trim used on mothers day, the 42 everyone wears on Jackie Robinson day or the flag colors on 4th of July. Outreach and connecting with elements of the fanbase, I doubt military families feel exploited. Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards

I prefer the navy blue and orange pinstripes, but I can dig the brown and gold. DEFINITELY beats the current version, which is my least favorite of any they have had. I liked the brown and orange ones too.

Blue was always so average. It was basically Dodgers-lite for the last like 15 years I can recall. I liked the blue/orange pinstripes as a kid but now I wholeheartedly favor the brown unis we've worn randomly for the last few seasons. I love that we'll finally have a distinctive look again, in time to hopefully have a team worthy of the honor.

I miss JYP. Seeing his posts above made me feel nostalgic for the original Zipactonal Aztectalk board. Anyone here who wasn't a part of that in the early 2000's really missed out. SO much activity, & postings. I'd love to know what =Bob, Bruce, and AztecJoe (among others) are up to these days.

My favorite Padre Uni's are the 1998 Swinging Friar uniform. I kind of like the brown pinstripe and the camouflage. Sorry, you don't like them, I believe the military likes them. I am fine with going back to brown if they can make them look half-way decent.
I would like to see a white home uni with brown, maybe pinstripes. A swinging friar type uni for some home and away games. And a camouflage uni for sundays. San Diego has not been a traditionalist team with a traditional uni so it is probably too late to start now.

Interesting to see the comments about the Astros sucking. That gives us hope for a similar rise for the good guys.

Interesting to see the comments about the Astros sucking. That gives us hope for a similar rise for the good guys. The Astros took tanking to a new level. They lost 106, 107 and 111 games in 3 straight seasons starting in 2011. The Padres couldn't even tank as well as the Astros did, but the Padres have indeed built the farm system. It is time to see the fruits of the Padres losses.
