Lt. Col Matthew Dooley thrown under the Bus

Lt. Col Matthew Dooley, a West Point graduate and highly-decorated combat veteran, was an instructor at the Joint Forces Staff College at the National Defense University. He had 19 years of service and experience, and was considered one of the most highly qualified military instructors on Radical Islam & Terrorism.

He taught military students about the situations they would encounter, how to react, about Islamic culture, traditions, and explained the mindset of Islamic extremists. Passing down first hand knowledge and experience, and teaching courses that were suggested (and approved) by the the Joint Forces Staff College. The course "Perspectives on Islam and Islamic Radicalism" ,which was suggested and approved by the Joint Forces Staff College, caught the attention of several Islamic Groups, and they wanted to make an example of him.

They collectively wrote a letter expressing their outrage, and the Pro-Islamic Obama Administration was all too happy to assist. The letter was passed to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff , Martin Dempsey. Dempsey publicly degraded and reprimanded Dooley, and Dooley received a negative Officer Evaluation Report almost immediately (which he had aced for the past 5 years). He was relieved of teaching duties, and his career has been red-flagged.

The Obama Administration has demonstrated lightning speed to dismiss Military brass that does not conform to it's agenda, and not surprisingly, nobody is speaking up for Lt. Col. Dooley.

No wonder he was kicked out. What he was teaching was not our policy. Now some on this board probably agree with Dooley. He thinks we should nuke the Muslim world into non-existence. Killing hundreds of millions of civilians should be the object of our policy. That is wrong.


I am glad a nutcase like him is put aside.

Of course, having read aztwcwin's nutcase posts, I can understand why he has a hardon for Dooley.

Lets hope he is not one day our modern Billy Mitchell with Radical Islam filling in for Japan. Remember what that "nutcase" Harry Truman had to do to them? Maybe next time we don't go "nutcase" first?

I guarantee you that a US officer somewhere in the Strategic Missile arena has picked targets in Pakistan primarily because of a possible nexus of Radical Islam with Pakistan's nuclear arsenal and rightly so. How many civilians would be killed in that case?

Since it is not our current policy to want to nuke Pakistan, should the officer picking those targets and training his replacements as to why he picked them be fired for picking those targets in the first place? Or is he simply figuring out the contingencies for any number of possible futures?

Dooley, it seems, was educating soldiers about all aspects of terrorism. How about some context? For him, does he think this attack on Medina and Mecca should be scheduled for tomorrow at dawn? Or is he talking about an eventuality when the $hit has already hit the fan, so to speak, and we are in shooting world war everywhere with Radical Islam as the primary opponent?

You should be ashamed of yourself for pointing out what this is really about. That and that Dooley was teaching a course that had approval and not his own opinion.

Teaching real practical and usable information and tactics instead of politically washed liberal dogma is a sin in this 'progressive" Obama world.

A good reason to be against tenure, eh?

It seems like his course, an elective, was not designed to teach policy. It also looks like these courses are for O-4s (Major) through O-6 (Colonel). These are experienced adults with college degrees, probably most of them have masters degrees. They are definitely not young, impressionable kids. Although I don't agree with some of the positions that he taught, it seems like the punishment was a bit excessive. Did they even ask him to change the parts of the course that they found objectionable?
