We have NO inside presence....none! all the people who think you win college bball with just guard play are really mistaken. Yes, you can win games when you shoot over 40% but when you dont you will get routed. Larry Nance and Washington could play with their backs to the basket but not 1 of our bigs could. Not one pass into the paint for a isolation move. Only points in the paint were Jamaal and a pass to the bigs when Wyoming committed. You can not consistently win this way. No offensive rebounds and bad defensive rebounding. X Thames was dearly missed tonight! Our whole offense relies on Jamaal, CTap, Rahon, and guards scoring. Spencer has much more potential than that and Fish really needs to let James Johnson get more minutes. One mistake and hes yanked. Well, we did win a lot last year with a 4 guard lineup. But i fully agree with you. You better have 4 amazing guards in order to really win in the tournament because you need size, rebounding, balance on offense and those are things we have minus the balance part. Stephens, Spencer, Johnson, Polee, all give us excellent size but are not being utilized in a balanced offense that has roles. Right now its a free for all figuring out our game with Franklin, Shepard and Tapley basically creating their own shots. This is where Coach Fish really needs to take a bit more control in terms of establishing a style and not so loosey goosey letting the guys do things how they see the game.

I don mind guys going hard to the rack off an isolation.....if they finish. Problem is, teams know we aren't consistently scoring inside, therefore they're not helping off of Stephens or Spencer so the dump off pass isn't there. And guys like O'Brien and Winston don't finish enough consistently to merit this much isolation. It's a confidence thing, it'll come around....at least I hope it does. Big game vs Nevada to try and right the ship.

One issue on offense is JJ. That guy is a terrible offensive player.
Stephens is pretty useless on offense too. Rahon went blind.
More Spencer, and Shep and a healthy X would help our offensive woes. Spencer at least can clean up garbage underneath unlike Stephens and JJ. I root for our team not to pass to Rahon.

They used to run a play for Billy White and others that was good for 3 to 4 baskets a game. They never run it now. Basically they would set a screen bill white's man, Billy cuts to the basket, meanwhile the ball is swung to the corner three area, where bill flashes within 3 feet of the hoop. The player in the corner three area would pass to Billy for any easy finish. It was also ran for malcolm thomas and leonard as well.

We used to also run an offense with them that was also pretty effective in 2009-10. Jack up a three. If we make it, great. If not, we get the board and put back. :-)
