I have visions of Braveheart scene with Mel Gibson rallying the masses. It's do or die and if you turn back maybe you live a little longer by turning away from battle but eventually you're going to be overrun.

The discussion of the California pie is central to the entire analysis. I hate to say this, but we need a safe harbor for a couple years like BYU found for itself. We need to park ourselves where we can maximize our revenues, hold the fort and improve ourselves competitively during the interim. Sounds like Dave believes strongly that the MWC/Boise deal is a total loser and will not afford us the interim safe harbor. I've said on other posts the bottom line will drive this decision. Without anything to go on my gut tells me Dave is right about the money. Id sure like to know. Meanwhile, very well written non-argumentative post. I always enjoy reading his posts as they are thoughtful, factual and without personal rancor. Thanks for your thoughts, you have provided me with things to think about. Fred Noonan.

Who would have thought that SDSU would become the center of a multi-million/billion move that has the potential to make or destroy the fate of many schools.

Just my thoughts.
When the move to the BE/BW was announced over a year ago I was not for making the move as it would have hurt the Hoops program. However as time has passed I have changed my tune. I believe going back to the MWC will be even worse at this point. The TV deal Boise got is bad for the MWC in the long run. In addition our continued association with the front range schools will continue to limit how we brand our school nationally. The front range schools are fine institutions, but very culturally different than SDSU and hurt our branding as a university. Sans a PAC12/Big12 invite, SDSU needs to be associated with schools that are more like SDSU. By staying in the BE we would be aligned with similar schools, which will help our branding nationally. I truly believe the SDSU admin is thinking in this direction.
I just hope Aresco can get some hard numbers for the TV contract, so SDSU's admin can make their decision and we can move on. This way we can focus on creating the all sports super-conference even if it means a two year stint in the BW . My gut tells me, If Aresco can't deliver some solid numbers we are heading back to the MWC at the end of the month.

You make too much sense to post here. I mean, where are the "roomers" and new mexico/unlv meth jokes? JK, well said and I agree.

Why would Boise want to form a new conference with us when they're getting such a sweet heart deal from the MWC? I also don't see why SMU and UH would be interested in such a conference, seems to me the nBE is a pretty sweet deal for them. Finally, why would any members of the MWC (after years of being bled dry by Boise) want to join a new conference with the Broncos?

I have thought since the nBE invites that SDSU was the prize in the west. It has far more long term potential than Boise. The nBE would survive without schools in the west, but it would certainly be a different conference.
The possibilities of the nBE is worth risk. C2C sounds great.
Hope my posts have not annoyed.
