Block below the waist. Pretty much all there is to it.

Block below the waist. Pretty much all there is to it. So it was the correct call?

Block below the waist. Pretty much all there is to it. So it was the correct call? It was a questionable call but not a bad call. If it hadn't been called there would've been very little outcry, even from BYU fans.

Sad thing is, he didn't even need to block the guy. I'm pretty sure he would have got in, without a block.

it was a call, one of many on the evening, that could have gone either way. They just happened to all go BYU's favor.

I thought that the call was questionable. On TV it looked like the block's initial contact started above the waist. That should have made it a legal block. We should have made the Refs do an underwear check.

Block below the waist. Pretty much all there is to it. So it was the correct call? Ticky tack. And it was away from the play. But far from an egregious error by the ref.

Not the correct call. Happens all the time and is rarely called if ever on a pick 6. Our guy hit him right around the hip and he went down. Football play 100% of the time.

Sad thing is, he didn't even need to block the guy. I'm pretty sure he would have got in, without a block. The problem here is that you usually just accept that they guy is going to block. I wouldn't want a defensive player stopping to think if he needs to make a block on a play, they don't spend enough time blocking for it to be instinct and that could be the time difference between blocking effectively or missing the block. I'm not going to blame a guy who doesn't do a lot of blocking for deciding to block on the play.

Like I said, we beat ourselves. We need to make plays (as in interceptions) when the ball is thrown right to you. Those plays always come back to haunt you and it did last night. We could have easily been up 17-0 and cruised to a "W" just by making a few plays. That is really the worst way to lose when you beat yourself.

A bad call for sure. The block was above the waist against the arm and the problem is that he left his feet and came down below the waist. I am sure that the rule is in place to protect a players knees and it was not that type of block or a shot at that players knees. A game changer and that official altered the outcome of the game with that call IMHO.
Very confusing second half. I felt like we proved who the better team was in the first half and gave them the second half because it seemed like the whole team didn't care and was just going through the motions. I have not seen that in the last 4 years.

It was almost surreal to see how quickly everything unraveled. all I could do this morning is shrug my shoulders when people would ask me my thoughts on the game.

Well from where I sat right in front of the play, two flags from two refs came in simultaneously, so in real time without the benefit of slow motion replays) two different judges thought it was illegal. When I saw the replay at home hours later it looked to me like the right call. Even if we split hairs and say it was "just above the knees" I'm thinking come on man why was Beed even making that block? The TD was already secured. Bad play and it cost us big time.

Block below the waist. Pretty much all there is to it. That was the call but the block was legal, initiated on the hip and slid down. I only replayed it on HD a zillion times and it never changed. Clearly a bad call, as was the forward pass, albeit only three inches of forward movement before being stripped off Dingwell's hand. Forward movement, however slight, meets the requirements for a pass to be initiated.
