I'd actually make the trip for an SDSU game if Diamonds in the Rough were the halftime show.

Guess we had 7 home games last year too (2011) and had 39,865.
2010: 34,133
2009: 24,464
2008: 24,376
2007: 27,940
2006: 29,227
2005: 36,223
Interestingly too, TCU didn't draw more than 31,000 before 2009. See what a little sustainable winning can do. Now TCU draws over 40,000

PS - I totally agree that "strollin' " Al Lugenbill had an uncanny ability to lose the big ones at precisely the wrong time.. It was because he showed too much emotion on the sidelines. Well played Sir!

brain-fart personal foul, missed FG, inexplicable bounce, fumblerooski, etc., etc., etc. Brain-fart personal foul is an apt description of what happened before ULL's winning FG in the N.O. Bowl. That penalty was just SO San Diego State . . .

ellbee, only SDSU could lose a bowl game by violating a penalty nobody knew existed. Props to us for creativity, huh?

My guess is 40k average attendance next season with the following home schedule:
Eastern Illinois Oregon State Houston Rutgers South Florida Temple Boise State
Boise should be scheduled the last game of the season just in case we're both 11-0.

[/quote] Good post....This may help bring in the old time alumnis and get them reintroduced to Aztec football. Once they get the feel of the charged atmosphere the students bring they may get hooked. I agree with most everyone here, we just need to get on a roll from the start and keep it going. I can see the same hysteria in Qualcom that is now present at Viejas Arena if this were to happen. As it stands the Show at Viejas is the envy of the rest of the other campuses and though they try to replicate it or go one better, there is no comparison.

SJSU has improved a lot and yet they've drawn under 10,000 at least once this year. I know SDSU will never have that problem.
as an aside, I liked the fans I met at the UNLV game. Those that showed up, anyway.

Is the 2013 football schedule set? I don't see it listed on the goaztec football schedule except for the four out of conference games, home to Eat. Ill., at Ojai-oh State, at Jose State, and home to host the Oregone State Weavers. HAM

A special -season game has been an Aztec tradition to boost attendance since1923 ! 89 seasons ..... A community organization that sponsored the East-West Christmas Bowl took over the Fresno Game of 1923 - attendance went from 2K average to 7K in old Balboa Stadium. Sep 25 1930 - The first night game and with fireworks (see photo) 1938 - the first "Shrine" game - again to help attendance.... (last one 1984) usually this was biggest crowd of the year 1985 - first KGB Sky Show with an Aztec game .... Attachments:

30K avg is not bad considering the teams that came here. Just modified the post. Take out the Skyshow, and it's a very anemic 23k. Ya 23K is crappy
