He's a good athlete. Just not NBA-caliber athlete. There's a difference. Look at Jimmer. Tapley is more athletic than Jimmer and, in case you didn't know, Jimmer was the 10th pick in the NBA draft. I rest my case. How's Jimmer working out?

I dislike jimmer as much as the next guy but he's averaging 8 pts a game / 10 min game this year. He's also making a ton of $$$$. If Chase did that in the NBA we'd all be pretty happy as would Chase. How did we get into this type of a discussion? Where is BBA?!
I heard a lot of groaning and moaning from the Aztec "faithful" last night whenever Jamaal makes a mistake. He's the lightning rod of the team for criticism...maybe like Lindley was for football last season. Love him or hate him...or maybe both at the same time.
At least, Franklin and Tapley have got each other's backs as teammates.
Tapley will be the 1st Aztec in history to not only be on a team that goes to the NCAA tournament four straight years, but start and contribute each of those years.
Tapley said in post game interview last night that Jamaal wants to win more than any other teammate he has ever played with.
That is what it is all about. Hanging banners and giving us joy. Celebrate that.
We can pick apart any player on our team if we choose to, but why? They are imperfect college players who would have already been in the NBA if they were ready to go.
Right now, they choose to be Aztecs, bless us with their skills, and bring us joy. Get off their backs and stop this crap.

Agree with all your points, you can tell the players all support each other on the court regardless of what's said here on aztecmesa. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using proboards

It is the groaning of the fans during games about Jamaal that bums me out. It has become fashionable to have a negative opinion about his game and express it out loud. This team has the burden of expectations to overcome. Hopefully, we can remember to celebrate the ride.

I hate threads like this. It always leads to people feeling forced to put down a player because someone else has overrated them. Chase and Jamaal are great, great players. I wish we could just discuss them in the context of college basketball for now, and enjoy them while they are here.

I agree. From the reactions to him in the first half, I thought (I guess I wasn't paying enough attention) that he had a bad first half. Then I got the halftime stats and saw he was 8-11 shooting and had 9 rebounds.

How's Jimmer working out? He is working out for $7+ million over three years. He's also playing decently so far this year. 8 points in 10 minutes per game, shooting 56%.

I just wanna keep complaining until they start getting a bunch of great wins, then disappear because I don't want to have to eat my words.
That's how we do it right?

I think that we were fortunate to have both of them as Aztecs. I don't think either one has the upside that the league looks for so my crystal ball doesn't see a first round in their future.

I think you guys are underestimating Tapley's athleticism. The difference is Jamaal is always looking to showcase himself whereas Tapley just looks to get it done. A bucket is a bucket. Basically Tapley plays smarter. Below is some video footage of Tapley in H.S., it shows quite a few dunks, including four in one game. The point is, he can elevate for a 6' 3" guard and he is quick with his hands and feet. Who cares if he could dunk in highschool. He's not going to be able to dunk on a guy 6'7 with Kawhi Leonard arms guarding him in the NBA not to mention a 7 footer down low. You are right that a bucket is a bucket and Jamaal last night made 28 points worth of buckets. Tapley made 18. Jamaal shot 67% from the field while Tapley shot 50%. I'm not exactly trying to compare the 2 because I love Tapley, but Jamaal has a decent chance of making the NBA. Tapley reminds me a lot of Brandon Heath. I think he will be playing in Europe.

I know this sounds homerish and PPL are going to rip for this but is there any NBA comparison for these two? I think there both first round picks with Franklin going between picks 17-25 and Tapley going somewhere in the last few picks because he can score off the bench and play backup PG. You're dreaming. Unless they both have stellar years, neither goes in the 1st round.

How's Jimmer working out? He is working out for $7+ million over three years. A front court version of Adam Morrison. Put Jimmer on a good team and he gets splinters. A PT player on a scrub squad isnt living up to his lofty expectations.
