He has yet to find his game. Is he feeling the pressure of being the Guy? He is not playing well at all. After 3 games, how's this for a stat line: 1-10 from 3 pts. 9-26 FG's. 14 Turnovers. 2 of those games were against mediocre competition. Looks to me like he's getting a little frustrated. He needs to let the game come to him, instead of forcing things.

SD's best player, and worst head case! He will win many easy games for us, and hopefully get his head together come tourney time! If not we will lose because of him!

He needs to take a seat for the start of Tuesday's game and take a deep breath. Not only would that help he ridiculous forcing of shots (worse than last year), but it would also take his stupid behavior down a notch. Intentionally sitting on a player and not getting up, getting in guys faces and in-general acting like a punk is a poor example. His behavior embarrasses his team, school ans most importantly himself.
I expected more poise from a team with 3 returning starters, 2 returning contributors and 2 transfers that were with the team all last season to "handle" the game better. Syracuse didn't have much of a problem with the bad end of the court!!! Shows we are NOT even close to their level.

Behavior needs an adjustment. Spoke with a SDSU booster after the game. He was embarrassed about Jamaal's attitude like intentionally trying to bump into Syracuse players or knee the player in the face while getting up. And lastly, tried to walk off the court immediately after the game and was called back to the court by game officials. Hate coming down on a good player like Jamaal but there is a thing about school pride and earning respect from other players even after a loss.

He's still a kid that needs to mature, we all can see that. Maybe the character part of being "The guy" is too much too soon. Not to say he's a bad kid, I don't know him like that, but from the outside looking at his outside, Maal has some work left on the mental side of the game. An old pilot used to tell me "Attitude determines altitude" I think the old guy has something there.

Rahon and Tapley both played better than Jamaal today. X, Jamaal and O'Brien looked pretty bad. Winston Shepard looked like a freshman, but had a nice block at the end that got called a foul. I thought Fish should have put in Polee earlier, not that he did anything but because no one else was doing much.
But all this talk of Jamaal being the best player looks wrong at the moment. Tapley is the best player on the team, and Rahon played like a seasoned, very good basketball player. Jamaal looked like a total headcase.

It's clear that not everyone was watching the same game today. Not that i'm right or you're wrong, but I though the only reason this wasn't a 30 point blowout was Shepard. He looked like he should be our starting PG and played super solid. The only knock on him that I saw was getting thrown at the rim, but that was pretty much any one who went inside.

Shepard did great. Against the bigger Syracuse. He pulled down some good rebounds. The passing could use some improvement. Excited to see how he develops over this season.

To Jamaal's credit and to the entire team, they played hard!

I agree that Shepard looked pretty good--I am very high on him. The one thing about Shepard is that he is not a scorer. His one fantastic drive required a lucky bank (non called, I am sure). And when Syracuse left him wide open, daring him to shoot, he hesitated and missed badly. That's why I said he looked like a freshman. Tapley and Rahon did not hesitate, each making a number of pretty good plays. I think Shepard will be a phenomenon pretty soon. He looks like a guy on the verge of exploding to the highest level in college ball. He needs a little time.

I think JF needs a little bench time to get his mind right. Too much muggin' going on. He needs to cut the WWF crap out and just play ball. Good players excel in all environments. Its one thing to have a bad game and another to have that bad a game. His attitude needs some serious adjusting.....I think it had a huge effect on him being able to do the fundamentals like ball handling, passing, shooting, etc.... He needs to settle it down and work back into it by playing and not "entertaining"!

Jamaal had a bad game. And he was our high scorer! But I agree, Jamaal needs to "not believe the hype" and just play basketball. Drop the "muggin" and let his game bring the excitement on it's own.

Shep and JJO were our best players out there today and probably the 2 that worked the hardest out there (Chase was a close 2.5). And you must have missed Polee. He was the 2nd to come in and after he took two pretty bad shots, he didn't get back in until the 2nd half. It's only 1 game, but I'm pretty surprised at how less than mediocre he looks---especially as Cali Mr. Bball.

I have said this to many people for quite sometime now....He is a disaster waiting to happen. Refs are not going to put up with his antics and don't be surprised if he gets suspended in a game soon. At least he is rebounding well and is looking to pass more this season.
