If the euros have been trained on mandated 5 week paid vacations, 36 hour work weeks, paid maternity & paternity leave, permissive immigration with immediate benefits, etc., it is tough medicine to take. We've warned them for years it was unsustainable.
So what, keep drilling deeper into the hole?

When the IMF, who have been staunch advocates of austerity for years, begin to have second thoughts I would think that an important change. I don't think they expected elderly Greeks, whose pensions have been cut 60%, to be living in the streets and eating out of trash cans.
Is that the price you think they should be paying for their past sins?

Really? So what, continue the unsustainable euro social handouts? Then what? Who pays for them? They led to this mess, so continue to make it worse? That's the solution?

Your suggestion would be? . Not let them starve. Greece can do that themselves. Do they have the will? More likely they will do more like our liberals here and get their neighbors to tighten up their belts to make up for their irresponsibility. Might be painful if Greece does the thing that would be most meaningful in the long run.

Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards Continue the path? How far, how long? At what social cost? You act like there have been no cuts and everything is just as always in Greece. It's not. Pensions have been cut 60 %. That would one's lifestyle.

He would feed them with fishes and loaves.
Of course today, Caesar would send a swarm of officials to collect taxes on the fishes and loaves, conduct sanitary and health inspections, find that Jesus was in violation and interfering with imperial commerce by engaging in non-union economic activity...and have him crucified.

I guess we're kinda waiting on the recommended path you'd take, consistent with the economic meltdown that is the EU. Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards

A dimwit would be a retired goverment drone calling the editors of Bloomberg dimwits. Keep your eyes on the news, fellows. IMF changing their minds about austerity, Bloomberg News calling for austerity to be eased. The tide is changing.
