Do we have to "prove" ourselves in football first?
Will our solid MBB program scare BE away?
I'm really hoping the wait is no more than 3-5 years.
Or is that just wishful thinking?
Oh wait, we're not even in BE for football yet.
D'oh!

We won't go unless the BW creates a Western Division (probably for all our Oly sports). Personally, I wish our Oly sports could stay in the BW, and both our Basketball and Football team land in the BE.

Oh wait, we're not even in BE for football yet. D'oh! Football will have 3 or 4 games with serious travel. Weird, but manageable. Basketball would have 9 or 10 games, plus the tourney, with serious travel. Add that two games are played in a week, and the answer is... never.

The only sport that can work on a national scale is football.

The last thing that conference needs is more basketball schools. in any case - I would put Butler, VCU and Xavier ahead of the Aztecs.
Xavier fits the "non-football, Catholic university" mold and they have proven themselves in basketball over the last decade or so.
Butler, while not religious (i think?), would be a strong basketball replacement for Notre Dame and net the Big East a foothold in the heart of Indianapolis. Two consecutive title games won't hurt their cause either.
I threw VCU out there because of location. A public institution without football, gets the BE back into the state of Virginia.

When the Big East adds 3 or 4 more teams from the West.

Good question, who knows if it will ever happen?
(Take a look at my post on The Other Colleges for big news about UCONN, and Calhoun.)

Not going to happen. If you wait long enough the MWC schools will start folding football programs and then you have a whole bunch of schools to play hoops with. Hopefully SDSU is in a real basketball conference before that though.

If BE expands westward, for whatever reason and creates a BE West, ANYTHING is possible.

If BE expands westward, for whatever reason and creates a BE West, ANYTHING is possible. If we go Final 4 or higher, I can see a couple of BB only schools added to go along with pulling in Houston and SMU to make a BE-Western division. It would be similar to the current BE-Eastern set up with the Catholics. We won't need more footballl members.

And if SDSU wins the National Championship, a foredrawn conclusion, you could name your own teams to form a new Mega West Conference with SDSU as the bankers. The PAC 12 would crumble under the weight of their own insignificance and your games would be simulcasted on every sports channel.

The conference basketball tourney in MSQ would rule. We'd have to shorten the regular season to stay fresh for the NCAA.

A ridiculous notion, I know, before I even throw it out there, but...
Since we are a Pac 12 member in men's soccer -- and knowing they don't want us (for now) in football -- any chance the Pac 12 would accept our Olympic sports, or maybe just add our hoops to our soccer membership?
