mine isn't here either - can anyone post the details of what it says? @aztecj tweeted that face value is $800 but i really have no idea what that means. $800 + $400 or $700 AC donation? actually a pretty solid strategy, despite the fact that it's gonna lock out a lot of the biggest fans. i'm ok with it as far as raising money for the program as long as there is a really good way to distribute free tickets to students that can't be resold. i'm content with a watch party but they need to send some students. The way I read it is that it's $800 face for the tix and the rest is an AC donation. Everybody pisses and moans about us not being big time. Well, welcome to the big time.

From what I read, the opportunity to submit an advance order is limited to certain donor levels. Yeah, me too. Guess I know why I didn't receive the notice. ;D

Too much $$$ to be made to give away student tix. I'm assuming the portion allocated to SDSU will go to big donors, admin members, and student athlete family and friends.

I keep thinking of the sight of all those unsold way overpriced Yankee tickets during the first season of the new Yankee Stadium. I think the promoter is overplaying his hand with those prices. I see people eventually getting in for much less. The promoter gets the tv revenue. For taking part...each school gets about 500 tickets. The Schools Set Their Own Prices.

$1500 for an early season college game with no player salaries to cover? Where does all this money go? C'mon I can't be the only one that thinks this price is way beyond ridiculous.

This is directed at absolutely no one here but I'm reminded of something I heard long ago from a mentor that has always stuck with me. "Things don't cost too much...you just don't make enough." I haven't complained about a price since.

when polled on here a few months ago...(i think it was a poll, possibly a thread) everyone put what they would pay for tickets. WE should have grossly understated what we would have paid. I wouldnt doubt if whoever chose those prices looked at these boards.

I am really happy the Aztecs are playing this game. I am really happy they are being smart and getting what the event is worth. This is a huge win-win for the Aztecs. How many here are complaining about the price but will not go to the Wooden Classic or the game at USC?
The Aztecs will sell all the tickets and still have a waiting list. There are not enough really special things to amuse those with enough cash to partake. This is truly special.

Only SDSU fan would complain about the price of tix for a special event like this.

Saw that. The wife and I are mulling it over. Time for Aztec fans to put their money where their mouth is. We need to sell this out. That cost is ridiculous for a basketball game. Feel free to put YOUR money where your mouth is, champ. That close to Christmas, my money will be allocated elsewhere.

Eh I'd rather put that money towards the MWC tournament in Vegas. This.

If being "big time" means paying a grand EACH to watch us play a non conference game, just because it's taking place on a ship.....well then, I'll stay small time. Cheers.

I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford it, but I think my wife would have some questions, lol. They have a right to set the cost at whatever they want....it just seems a bit steep. I'll be at the Wooden for sure. Hope to see you there, Bill.

I don't think the price is that unreasonable.

Could you please help clarify for me: If SDSU is setting the price, what does it mean to have a face value of $800 when the total price is $1500? Is SDSU being charged $800 a ticket from the promoter and the rest ($700) an AC donation? Thanks.

Is supply and demand that hard for everyone to understand here? The number of seats allocated are so scarce that there has to be away to give them to the people that want them the most. As far as how much SDSU is charging...why would you begrudge your beloved Athletic program an opportunity to make money in an economic environment that is very tough on SDSU.
Also, someone esle asked why in the world it would need to cost this much. OK genius...what do you think the hard costs are to turn a flight deck covered in old wartime machinery into a nationally televised basketball game with 4,000 people in attendance?
I spent two days on the carrier last year and saw all that went into that production...let me tell you...that is a lot of work and takes a lot of people. This kind of thing costs a ton of dough and is awesome exposure for us.
Be happy we are involved and get tickets to the Wooden Classic...that is the game we need everyone at. That big arena will not be sold out...the carrier game will be.
