Some interesting quotes this week goaztecs.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/090412aah.html" Q. What's the mentality this week against Army? COACH LONG: Our game plan has not been decided yet. Every game is going to be dealt with individually and differently. We will put our statistics over the last four years, and we'll put Army's statistics in there for the last three years because this is the fourth year Coach Ellerson is there. The last three years we'll put their stats in there and our chart will be completely different than it was that week. Q. What about if the coach's intuition is different than the chart? COACH LONG: Yeah, we have a chart that says: Green, go for it. It says red, don't go for it. And a gray area that allows for coaching and gut feelings. Good question, though, by the way. The chart's not infallible. " One thing that must be considered, if you are going for 2 to get a 6 or 8 point lead: What is your opponents expected percentage against your defense? By making a 2 point conversion, you are often forcing your opponent to go for two too. Since Army's offense is designed in such a way that short yardage is easier (I assume), you might not want to get into that situation. When you are behind a couple of TDs things are different. Hopefully that isn't an issue. Is Rocky simply keeping the opponent in the dark? We shouldn't go for 2 when we are in the lead, unless the 2 points achieves a natural football score differential i.e. ahead by 1 or 5 after a TD, go for 2 to get to 3 or 7.

The average, over the last ten years in college football, is on two point conversions, it's almost 59 percent success rate. Not sure where Rocky got that. Didn't various other reports say it's just 43%?

Didn't various other reports say it's just 43%? Did Rocky misspeak? Is Rocky operating under a false assumpion? Did the reporter misunderstand ? 59% is the success rate, of the defense, over the past 10 years.

If Rocky IS operating under a false assumption, let's hope somebody sets him straight before Saturday.

IF he is operating under a false assumption, let's hope somebody makes a poll to see where this ranks among the biggest screw-ups by an SDSU football coach.
