Some of your fans think you're the Memphis of the western U.S. Sorry, but you're not. Memphis football is a roller coaster but it's occasionally pretty good. To put it another way, it's SDSU that's the Memphis of the western U.S. UNLV is more like the Duke of the western U.S. Duke has lost three in a row to Richmond, including last year. and UNLV fell to Southern Utah. 3-9 vs 2-10 in 2011? your description is accurate.

No chance at all that UNLV moves to the BE or even has a chance to consider it. FIFY I really hope you guys become a permanent conference partner with us. However, I've given up hope it will happen. Football has never mattered at UNLV and I see 100%, absolute, zero evidence it ever will. you have more in common with us, Fullerton, Long Beach, etc. anyway ;D

I watched that game while switching back and forth from another. UNLV's second half play might be the worst in the history of the MWC. Granted, SDSU was miserable many times under Chuck Long. However, IIRC, UNLV was outscored 22-0 in the second half of that game by a middling FCS squad. That's as awful as it can possibly get. BTW, please stop with the SDSU is somehow in any manner equivalent to UCSB. We sure won't be mistaken for Alabama any time soon but we passed you guys by almost half a century ago.

"passed us almost a half-century ago." Really? If anything, we were ahead of you until Steve Fisher arrived and even then it took a few years to finally catch us. It's more like you passed us in 2006, at best. Just a recent phenomenon. I'll try. it won't be easy though. I only said we had more in common than you did with UNLV. not the equivalent. Since you brought that up though, I would call you the equivalent of a Utah State. sports-reference says that SDSU had what, eight players who made it into the NBA? UCSB five, soon to be six. Not so different. SDSU has one more win than UCSB all-time in the NCAA Tournament. Before 2011, that number was in our favor. And this is despite you guys having Fisher for over a decade. Eight NCAA appearances to our five. Ten 20+ win seasons overall (Eight of them under Fisher) including one 30+ win season under him. UCSB nine 20+ win seasons (Four belonging to Bob Williams) and zero 30 win seasons. Not so far apart. Please do not pretend that SDSU was not similar to Santa Barbara before the 2000s because they were and for the most part, still are. The only real difference between us is that we de-emphasized football two decades ago.

SDSU has one more win than UCSB all-time in the NCAA Tournament. Well then that would mean twice as many.

We've grossly underachieved, but that doesn't really factor in to the fact that we are nothing like you, nor will we ever be.

Football has never mattered at UNLV and I see 100%, absolute, zero evidence it ever will. I say follow the money. Ed Roski has his own financial motives for wanting to see his stadium built at UNLV. But once it is in place the school itself will have powerful incentives to make maximum use of it and capitalize on its value, and it will have lots of additional resources ($$$) with which to do so. Also, the deep pockets like Roski who got it built can be expected to put pressure on the university to start making a real effort at college football. Such assurances might even be a precondition of their investment. Build it and they will come, "they" being a real AD and a real coach. SDSU isn't the only sleeping giant in western football. I think UNLV could wake up very quickly once the stadium is in place.

It's more like you passed us in 2006, at best. Just a recent phenomenon. We passed you when we left the PCAA and then upgraded our football schedule significantly. Here's the hierarchy of what matters in MAJOR college sports: Football: 70% Men's basketball: 25% Everything else collectively: 5% I honestly don't know when UCSB dropped football but I assume it's when the PCAA stopped playing that sport, which I believe was 1995. Of course, the PCAA was playing at what is now the FCS level anyway. And BTW, I don't understand a UC school dropping football. At least to my understanding, unlike the CSU, UC didn't sign that silly Cal-NOW thing that expands the reach of Title IX beyond what anybody else in the known universe requires, thereby handicapping CSU schools' ability to compete with others on a level playing field. And BTW 2, I'm all for women's sports. However, the CSU didn't need to do anything more than comply with the dictates of Title IX in order to properly support them.

We've grossly underachieved, but that doesn't really factor in to the fact that we are nothing like you, nor will we ever be. And he has absolutely no idea how difficult it is for a California sea level school to compete in a conference the majority of which is composed of opponents 1000+ miles away which are located at mile high and above altitudes which can sometimes be problematic just traveling to in the winter. I like that Gaucho but his philosophy reflects the ignorance of the dozen or so regulars on the PCAA message board whose schools play 90% of their games within the Golden State. (There will be a lot more posters to that board once SDSU, Boise and Hawaii join the PCAA.)

No chance at all that UNLV moves to the BE or even considers it. Our football program is nowhere near where it needs to be, but even with that UNLV would not make this move. Funny, that's the same bravado some of the delusional Fresno State posters use. Last we checked neither of you have been invited. LOL. You couldn't be more wrong if you tried. Do you honestly think UNLV wasn't contacted about moving to the BE? You obviously have no clue to be quite honest & can try to act like you know, but FACT is you don't.

I'm not happy at all that UNLV & SDSU will not be in the same conference together. IMO it's a big mistake that SDSU is making the move they are & it will never make sense to me more money or not. UNLV had the same opportunity, but knows it would be a mistake & it ended before it started. Hopefully down the road somewhere both schools are back together again.
