1. Tier 3 rights belong to the home team OOC and to both teams locally in conference. 2. Teams will be televised no more than 50% of their home games and 50% of their road games. To help share the wealth. 3. Teams that are involved in national telecasts get a bigger share of the reward for those games. A 20%, 20%, and 60% to share is an example. This would maximize the Aztecs return while protecting other teams national exposure opportunities. Tier 3 rights for Aztecs Basketball is quite lucrative. Big West TV Agreement runs through 2012-2013.

What do you mean by "both teams LOCALLY?" Assuming you just mean both teams share the tier 3 rights, I figure CSUN and UCR will earn as much from one game at Viejas Arena as for the rest of the season combined. I mean, isn't the Not So Big West's TV deal worth like 80 grand per school per year? Or am I mistaken and NSBW schools actually pay ESPN and Fox to televise their games?
Edit: Opps, I guess they're just with ESPN. And BTW, the conference should change its name back to the PCAA. Or actually now that Hawaii has joined, maybe just the Pacific Athletic Association.

we'll consider changing it back when UNLV returns in a decade or so. You have to admit it's a thoroughly stoopid name. I'm bored with calling it the Not So Big West. That's just too long. From now on for me, it's the PCAA.

From now on for me, it's the PCAA. at one time Northern Illinois, UL-Lafayette, Louisiana Tech and Arkansas State were football-only members of this conference and they are anything but western. Even North Texas was a full member briefly. I know it has devolved into an all-California + Hawaii conference but I like the Big West name. It's a legacy thing, kinda like the rich tradition of SDSU football ;D

I'm confused. this contract is from 2008 and expires after this season, so how does this mean anything for SDSU hoops?

The contract at least gives an idea of what it has been like on tv the last several years. With Hawaii and SDSU coming in and Pacific leaving, the exposure will increase and whatever tv revenue the conference gets will only go up. UC Santa Barbara had three conference games on espnu (@fullerton, vs Long Beach, vs Cal Poly) and one on espn2 (@ Long Beach)

It's been since never that the NSBW/PCAA put together 5-6 consecutive quality men's basketball seasons. In fact, except for UNLV, was anybody in the NSBW/PCAA any good for 5-6 years in the late eighties/early nineties?

New Mexico State made the NCAA tournament five straight years. had a sweet 16 and a 2nd round appearance as well. Three times finished nationally ranked.

New Mexico State had a good run of things during that stretch. Five consecutive NCAA tournaments. A sweet 16 and a 2nd round appearance. Three times finished nationally ranked. Forgot about that. Yes, the Aggies were quite good back then. I can't remember the coach's name but didn't he die unexpectedly? Oh and Tiny West WOULD probably be more accurate. However, PCAA doesn't sound so cruel.

UCSB had two NCAA tournaments and two NIT appearances during the late 80s/early 90s as well. Also had a first round draft pick, Brian Shaw
