Someone will probably redshirt next year, but it's way too early to say who.
When the first game tips off next year, I'm guessing it will be that guy with the injury. ;D

I could see them asking Shrigley to RS and letting him decide whether or not to accept...just like they did with AW and LBF I believe. Like Fish was quoted in today's UT, "He doesn't have an ego even though he has an ego. He's not full of himself."

If anyone is going to redshirt, my guess is it would be LBF.
Williams? Absolutely no chance. As Tom said, I doubt he will even still be at SDSU.

Shrigley has a 92 rating by ESPN and carried his team to the CA state finals. Dude is not going to redshirt. If he was african american you would all be talking about how is going to come in and start! I would be extremely surprised if anyone redshirts this year. Where is thomengo, myownwords, danloc04, and zurac315...somebody just mentioned race! As a matter of fact, another wrote, "if Shrigley was "white".... We can't have a double standard...or are they just concerned when the word "black" is mentioned. Props to sdwahoo for, at least, keeping it consistent.

I think the logic of LBF redshirting would be to get a year of separation from X. That way when X graduates LBF would be a senior and have a chance to be the starter for one year. If it goes down that way, there'd at least be a decent logic to it benefiting both the player and team equally.

Good Point and it wouldn't force Fisher to use a freshman recruit as his PG in 2013, Y/N??

There's no benefit to LBF to redshirt next year... WE WILL RECRUIT RIGHT OVER THE TOP OF HIM. We have our eye on a number of Top 150 point guards in '13 (all from SoCal).
Either accept a role as a limited bench player... or transfer out. I think he stays and plays 5 minutes/game each of the next two years and is happy being an Aztec.

[/quote] ^^^ THIS ^^^ There are plenty of rosters that are more loaded than ours will be, and coaches figure it out. Besides, it's a good problem to have and we have the perfect coach to deal with it. The way he stresses TEAM over individual will make it much less of a problem.

I love this board.
People ready to knock each other over to jump off of buildings for too little depth one year and then too much depth the next.

No one is redshirting. Can we switch to a different crazy subject, like final fours or pre-season top 10 rankings?

The kid still has a body like a HS junior.

That being said, Alec will likely be gone, which will open up another scholly for Pelle or January.
I don't see LB leaving or redshirting, because he has improved and if he continues to improve, then he can help out at PG this coming season should there be another injury at the position. If X goes down (again, but plays through it, again) or if Winston gets banged up, then we need to have depth with a returning PG, who knows the system and can give us any minutes we need.
No way will Spencer red-shirt unless he gets eaten alive in practice, but not sure that will happen. He seems to be a stud.
Stephens only has a year and all of the other guys inside will only get better, so would not make sense to r.s. him.
Shrigley might as well get some live minutes this season. He's a stud and we will need his outside shot (and drives to the hoop) this season and the following when Tapley, Rahon, and possibly Jamaal leave.
Let's just all realize that we are going to be loaded this season and have competition at all spots. It's going to be fun to be a part of.
Hopefully, the sell-outs are real sell-outs with the place packed for all games...including the weak ones early on.

LBF should redshirt because he has Shepard and Thames in front of him and with just Thames in front of him this year he barely played. It would be in his best interest to red shirt so he can get PT later in his career.
