Excellent shot. Love that play Jamaal.
Now are we going to hear from all the guys who think Jamaal should be punished for showing off? Jamaal didn't need to go up backwards, he could have faced the other direction. Where are all the guys who call for clipping this guys wings? Is it OK when the ball goes in?

Look at the lady just to the bottom left of Jamaal's shoe.

I disagree with your assessment. The natural flow of the play warranted a reverse. We all know JF is capable of highlight reel plays and has more than his fair share, but we all know he can make some pretty ugly plays too. When you make a good one you get praise, and when you make a bonehead play you get ripped....nature of the game.

Look at the lady just to the bottom left of Jamaal's shoe. The one who appears to not be watching the game? I've stopped criticizing Gucci Row. Those people pay the program A LOT of money to sit there. They can do whatever the F they want. ;D

Scott has done some great pics this year to include that special pic of the C-17 flying over the Aztec's Poinsettia game, Ernie must be tutoring! (OK Polly, I know you are going to let me have it when you read this! Miss you guys!)

John Wooden and Jerry West were in agreement on this one. You practice making all those moves, but you only use them in the game when necessary. You don't risk an unnecessary turnover when there is no need to. West used to say he could dribble behind his back and between his legs without a problem, but didn't do so for show, only when he needed to protect the ball from a defender. Jamaal does most of his moves for show. I don't think this one was one of those since the reverse may have actually been easier to make based upon the angle he was coming from.

I had a good angle on this play and watched Jamaal all the way from outside the 3-point line. The missed shot caromed off a little farther than Jamaal expected, but he adjusted in mid-air and made the reverse jam.
That was a spectacular shot, and it was not showboating!

Exactly, Jamaal used his tremendous talent and made a play in the flow and it ends up a spectacular play that no one would fault him for making. He will get plenty of highlights with hustle, leaping ability and his great timing on following shots. Just needs to remember that and let the moments come to him, while dropping plays like the behind the back forced pass, but he had such a good game that it is not necessary to harp on that one mistake.

I didn't think it was showboating at all. It was just the angle that he approached the rim at, getting through traffic and then contorting his body to react to the carom of the ball. It was just a spectacular play, nothing more, nothing less. Interesting note: DeShawn Stephens said in the post game interview with Leitner that he thought he was going to get the rebound and the putback, but that Jamaal came out of nowhere to make the play. It just happened that quick.

Not showboating? Look at the video carefully. Look at his rotation after the shot. That rotation can't come from adjustments midair. Ask any physics major why that is necessarily true. That rotation is declared prior to leaving the floor. Jamaal was boatin' - and I love it - and I encourage him do even more.

It was a stunning play to witness in person and brought the house down. Most everyone took a few moments to realize what they just saw. Way to go Jamaal.

The fact that some of you are even having this conversation is a testament to just how polarizing you've all made Jamaal. Just enjoy the dunk and the win.
